What is the fastest processor that a sony MBX-160 motherboard can be upgraded to? I have a sony vaio vgn-n130g with the Intel Core Duo T2060 running 1.6ghz with a maximum cache of 2 X 1GB DDR2 PC2- 5300 SoDIMM, and I am looking to upgrade at least the RAM, but ideally the processor as well. Thank you in advance.

I have looked at the t2700, but my motherboard (MDX-160) only has a 533mhz FSB. Will the t2700 work with that, or is the T2450@ 2.0ghz going to be the fastest that is compatible? Also, is there a website that will tell me what motherboards will fit my case, in the event that I decide to swap it out altogether? Thank you for the response, sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

Take a look at the T2700 Intel(R) 2.33Ghz or the Intel(R) T7600 2.33Ghz chipset

I have a sony vaio vgn-nr430e laptop, and was wondering if the motherboard processor could be upgraded? Also can a video card be installed.

Hi.

Yes you should be able to upgrade the processor on the laptop for a faster one. The socket type of the processor is socket PPGA47. This code is what you type for when looking for a faster processor. The installed processor should be Intel Pentium T2390 / 1.86 GH.

As for the graphics card then i'm sorry but the graphics chip is part of the motherboard and cannot be upgraded.

Regards.

first check to see what kind of motherboard you have. then use google to search for that motherboard, and from there it should tell you the fastest-supported processor.

How to reset mbx 160 bios for a sony vaio

To reset the BIOS read the information from this link.

In case of your laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper.
