You have the Scanner / Printer connected to your USB port on your computer?
You would have installed the software that came with it.
There is an Application that came with it that would allow you to Scan a document placed on the flat bet glass.
If you have Apple Mac then the Image Capture application will also look for scanner devices.
The answer is yes to both questions. Follow the instructions below:- Go to Adobe Acrobat. Click on FILE. Click on CREATE PDF. Click on FROM SCANNER. Click on SCAN. You should now be scanning your first page, after completing it you will be asked if you want to scan any more pages or close. Select to scan more pages till finished. You can also select to have Acrobat do an OCR after the scan which will allow you to search the document. To do this, click on DOCUMENT, click on RECOGNISE TEXT USING OCR and click on START
Open your Adobe Acrobat (e.g., 9.0 Pro), load your pages into the document feeder (fewer than 30 at a time), then ask Adobe Acrobat to create PDF from scanner (File/Create PDF/From Scanner). Canon MP530 as the scanner and click OK. Works like a charm!
Scanning a multi-page document as a .pdf file reverts the settings for rotation, selected area, etc. to default for any pages after the first page. This applies to Mac OSX 10.3, 10.4, & 10.5. A simple, but tedious work-around is to scan each page as a separate file and easily recombine them using OSX Preview. Just open the first page, view the Sidebar, and drag-drop the additional page files into the sidebar. Save and it's all one multi-page .pdf.
