Water Heating does not work? The water does not heat inside the unit when washing... What can be causing the issue?

  • Anonymous Feb 09, 2010

After further research in the owners manual docs it appears some models may not be equiped with a heater.

I suspect this is the case for my unit from what I read.

Not sure how long you have had this unit. The most obvious reason could be the heating element has failed.

After going over the problems described in horror stories by owners of this model of dishwasher, I am not sure if you will be able to get LG to service it at all.

Worth asking your local LG service centre if there is one.

What you mention is a possibility as the manual mentions that the inlet water temperature should be 120deg F.

But it must come with some sort of heater because it does mention the wash cycle is at 140deg F. Also in trouble shooting section it mentions that the wash cycle will be extended if the temperature of inlet water is not sufficient. See page 18.

In case you want to get a better idea of the construction of your dishwasher refer service manual at

The heater specification is mentioned on page 5. It also shows how to run diagnostics tests including checking the heater.

My machine is filling with cold water after a wash dry programme has completed .

  1. Problem with the water temperature sensor: The water temperature sensor may be faulty and not accurately detecting the water temperature.
  2. Issue with the control board: The control board may be malfunctioning and not properly controlling the water temperature.
  3. Clogged inlet valve: The inlet valve may be clogged, which could cause the water to not heat up properly.
  4. Faulty heating element: The heating element could be faulty, which could cause the water to not heat up properly.
  5. Wiring problem: There may be a loose or broken wire connection between the control board and the heating element or water temperature sensor.
It is recommended to have a professional diagnose the issue, as some of these repairs may require technical skills and specialized tools

Bosch dishwasher cycle running too long?

Please supply model number and define what is "too long". Long cycle times are usually caused by a water heating issue. Some (heavy wash w/high temp heating) cycles may take 90+ minutes for a complete cycle, this is normal. Does the unit circulate (pump) water or is just the drain pump running?

Dishwasher not drying dished with any heat source. Dishes washed in cold water.

Most dishwashers are plumbed to the hot side of the hot water side of the faucet. This should provide hot water for washing the dishes. Perhaps this dishwasher was plumbed to the cold water side by mistake.

Most dishwashers have a heating coil most of the way around under the bottom sliding/rolling dish rack. The heating coil may not be working, which would be consistent with the dishes not drying at the end of the cycle. Possible causes include incorrect setting selected on control console (push buttons) or timer, heating coil disconnected from electrical source at one end or both ends, faulty control circuit inside the timer, faulty wiring between the timer/control circuit and the heating coil, burned or pitted contacts in the control circuit.

Why is my humidifier forming black percipitate in the tank? how can i remedy this

The black particles are pretty common. This is a byproduct from minerals in the water and is normal.
Just clean the tank regularly (with diluted bleach). The black particles will also collect in the steamer unit (the top blue part). Wash this out with hot water (no soap or anything) after each use. If you tap it a few times on the floor of your bathtub you'll probably see some of this black stuff come out. No worries, just rinse again with hot water.
There's no harm from the black particles.

I have a Hotpoint Aquarius WD420 washer/dryer that is not heating the washing water, yet does heat when in drying mode. Does the machine use the same heating element for washing and drying, or are there...

There is a seperate element for the water heater. so likely to be a faulty heater or thermistor which is fastened toi the element
You really need a test meter to determine which part is faulty.

Du1100xtpq7 dish washer keep repeating wash cycle doesn't go past this just keeps washing

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. If the cycle doesn't complete, check these:
Water-heating cycle
Many dishwashers heat the wash and/or rinse water to a higher temperature, as the cycle calls for it. In these cycles, the dishwasher pauses after it has filled with water, waiting for the water to reach the pre-set temperature. What happens next depends, as follows:

On some units, the pause is timed and the unit continues after the allotted time.

On others, the cycle can't continue until the water reaches the higher temperature. If you have this type of dishwasher and the water isn't being heated (say, because of a problem with the heating element or thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never continues. When you repair the heating-system problem, the "cycle problem" is fixed too.

Timer
Timers don't often fail. But if every other part of the dishwasher seems to be working properly and the timer knob seems to be stuck in one place--doing one function continuously--the timer may be at fault. Dishwasher timers can't be repaired. If yours is defective, replace it.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

On the normal cycle of my Duet front load washer at 37 minutes the machine stops and flashes F5. I push the reset button then the start button and the machine works fine after that.

HI. This is a Water temperature sensor error.

If during the water heating step in the wash cycle, the water temperature sensor (NTC) value is out of range, or the heating element circuit has failed, the F05 error code will be displayed.

Potential Causes

• Check the Water Temperature Sensor, Heating Element and Element Relay
• Check connections to the Sensor, Heating Element and Relay

Replace failed component.(Most common issue will be a failed water temp sensor)

Water level below heating element and element does not appear to heat

Make sure the drain hose high loop is installed properly, normally you have this in the sink cabinet high up. Otherwise the water inside the machine may drain "by itself", leaking through the inactive drain pump during the wash cycle and cause this and other troubles.

ON-DEMAND WATER HEATER NOT WORKING

I am assuming that this is an electric unit? The heating elements could be bad. I would contact the manufacturer for a service manual for your unit. There you will find instructions on how you might be able to reset the unit if possible. One thing you can try is to shut all power down to the unit and then restart. Also check for any "reset" switches on it as well.
