NSCTOP.EXE - Application Error

I got a error message from SYMANTEC ANTI-VIRUS CORPORATE EDITION. When I open up the Symantec System Center Console I get a dialog box. The following error. "NSCTOP.EXE - Application Error; The Exception Breakpoint; A breakpoint has been reached; (0x80000003) occurred in the application at location 0x77F43847." And then it gives me the options to either terminate the application or try to debug. Please let me know what other information you guys need! Thank you .

Are you using a retail, released version? A breakpoint is usually something inserted into the code by the developer to stop execution at a certain point so that they can determine what's going on at that point and are not usually found in released software. Have you tried getting an update from Symantec? What version are you running?

-   I get the same error message, dell is telling me I need to buy an external hard drive and reset the laptop to factory settings? Is this really necessary, I think it has something to do with my superantivirus software.

On the odd chance that you are not in a Corporation (where they require you to use that product) Avast and AVG (both free for home use) might be a better solution....just a thought...will let mansnes pursue with you...Tango
