Thinner (and more expensive!) articles of clothing getting multipe small holes/rips. It appears that a plastic semi-circular insert/liner surrounding the inside of door opening broke free and the 'gap' left by the now defunct plastic is variable in width. Narrowing from 2 cm. down to nothing- creating the perfect area to 'wedge' clothing before being 'torn loose' by the circular motion of dryer drum. My wife and 2 teenage daughters are upset with the 'clothes eating dryer' and currently jobless, the $$$'s are an issue. Other than that, Kenmore model no. 417.69042991 has performed flawlessly. Would some sort of heat-resistant tape be adequate? Thank you in advance and may you and yours enjoy the holidaze as best you can. hurtin' in Seattle

Go to home depot and buy a roll of flexible metal tape it looks like a roll of duct tape but is actually very thin metal almost like aluminum foill but thicker it is usually used to seal dryer vents it has a strong adhesive on it and is heat resistant.you can cut it to shape but make it a little larger, then make sure surface is clean and apply it around the hole appply a good amount of pressure with your thumbs when applying it I would give it a couple hours to adhere to surface and then try the dryer...good luck

What is the hole in the plastic trash liner used for? and What is the 'bag tuck'

The hole is to let the air out that's trapped between the can and the liner. I find without it, the bag never gets full before it has to be emptied. Hope this helps. If not, send in a picture.

How can above ground pool be repaired

It sounds like the hole is relatively small. You can make a patch using a piece of sheet metal or a piece of flat aluminum which you can purchase at Lowes or Home Depot in the hardware dept. Use sheet metal if the metal surround is metal. Use aluminum if the surround is aluminum. You can tell which is which by taking a magnet and touching the metal. If the magnet sticks, it's metal not aluminum. Cut the patch using sheet metal shears to a size that is 4 inches by four inches larger than the hole. Then you'll have two inches on each side of the hole. You are going to need to put the patch on the inside of the metal, between the liner and the metal surround. This so the hole edges won't tear the liner. When you cut the patch, round off the edges so there are no sharp edges. Take duct tape and cover the edges of the patch. Place 1/2 the width of the duct tape and apply it to one side of the patch and fold the other half over to the other side. You can cut a round patch, but a square or rectangle patch will be easier. Just cut the corners round. Purchase a small tube of silicone sealant ( when you but the patch material) and apply a bead around the patch edges and in the middle. Then affix the patch over the hole. Wipe off any sealant that ozzed through the patch so it doesn't bond to the liner.

Hole in Maytag Neptune front load washer door and flaking or melting of door.

Hello,
I've owned the same Neptune since 1999 and had this problem happen to me twice, the first time the inside molded plastic door melted through in a circular pattern and had to be replaced. The fact that it was circular indicates that something was rubbing during the high speed spin. That something was a stiff bottomed duffle bag that was rubbing on the plastic door during high speed spin. The washer was full of other clothes that didn't allow the duffle bag enough room in the washer tub, hence it pressed against the plastic door. The second time it happened I got a circular groove melted in, but not through, the plastic door... caused this time by a small child's back pack. I would make sure "rigid" items have enough room to "float" in the tub cavity by not putting in other clothing that over packs the washer.

Some of my clothing is getting small holes appear ie t shirts and some times jeans i don't over load today it has ripped a towel

There could be several reasons:-
Incorrect use of chlorine bleach
Unfastened zips, buckles hooks or fasteners
Ribs, tears and broken threads
Degradation of material
Hard objects left in pockets
Some sharp foreign object caught in holes in the drum and ripping clothing - feel all around the inside of the drum for sharp objects.

Cannot get adjustable head rest off the seat

On the plastic pieces surrounding the insertion hole on top of the seat back, there is a very very tiny hole on the side of this piece of plastic. You need to insert a rigid piece of wire or a very fine nail of some kind into this small hole and push until you feel it give, then pull up on the headrest. it should come out. You have to do this on each of the two insertion holes. It's easier with two people.

My Whirlpool Duet is eating small articles of clothing!

Okay...first of all, the "F02" error code is a Long Drain error. This is usually caused by debris clogging the drain pump. There is a drain reservoir that needs to be cleaned out periodically. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r615268-f02_error_code_whirlpool_duet_kenmore

Keep in mind, it does not take much to damage these small drain pumps. If anything has been left in the pump for a significant period of time, it can damage the pump motor or impeller. The result: a drain pump that "appears" to be running, but may not be pumping anything. If the error code returns, you may have to replace the drain pump.

The socks getting lodged in the rubber door boot can be a common problem. Well...I should say, its not uncommon for this to happen. Due to the design of the rubber folds in the door boot, it can often collect small items. Sixteen socks is not a new record. I found over 20 one time! This rubber door boot must be inspected after EACH wash load to ensure items do not get stuck there. This can result in articles of clothing beginning to mildew and smell over a period of time as well. There are also small drain holes in the folds that help drain away some of the residual water. If these holes become clogged, water will stand in this area and begin to smell. The following link explains the recommended steps to keep this area clean:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r513372-front_loader_mildew_odor

In addition, it is not unheard of to have small articles of clothing (such as socks, underwear and wash cloths) to manage to work their way between the inner spin basket (stainless steel tub) and the outer tub shell and get lodged in the drain hose. I would recommend you inspect the drain hose that runs from the bottom of the wash tub to the inlet side of the drain pump for obstructions as well. I have found wash cloths stuck in this hose that prevented the tub from draining. For future reference, use garment bags for washing small items. This will prevent some of the problems from reoccuring.

I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you require additional assistance.

GE top load Washer ripping clothes

Solution!
GE has replaced the "boot" (the large rubber gasket at the opening of the washer) on my washer. This has fixed the problem!

Although the majority of people I spoke with at GE did not know about this, eventually I got a repair technician out here who spoke with one of the engineers. The engineer said that there was a problem with the boot causing clothing to rip. The new boot we have on our washer covers a ring of plastic just on the outside of the metal drum (the plastic rim remains stationary while the metal drum spins - this is the cause of the ripped clothing) - the old boot left this plastic ring exposed. Our washer was only 8 months old - so even if your washer is new, if your clothing is being ripped, insist that the boot be replaced for an updated version.

Good luck!
