I cannot listen to an "audible" book on my sansa player. I get the error message "please activate device with audible manager to play this title". I don't know what audible manager...

"Audible" books are copy protected to prevent unauthorized copying or sharing.
Download the Audible Manager software from
When you load that software and sign on to your account, you will be able to sync the information into the Sansa player that will authorize the audiobook to play on the Sansa.

When I try to listen to my audiobook, a message pops up saying "Please acivate your device to play this title". How do I activate my device? (I got my audiobook from

I think this has nothing to do with the philips mp3 player and more to do with the audible website.
~~ Activate Each installation of AudibleManager will need to be registered with in order for our audio books to play through the software. If the audio is going to be transferred to a device or burned to CDs, each device and CD burner must be activated as well. A total of 3 AudibleManager installations are able to be registered to 1 account at 1 time. Each installation of Audible Manager may have up to 3 devices/CD burners activated at 1 time. ~~ have u done this?

"please obtain license by transferring this title

You might be trying to play a DRM protected MP3 audiobook.Try to get the non DRM version so that it can be played on all devices other than the one the book has been bought on.

I received the following message after downloading an audio book using Overdrive Media Console. Error message: "Please obtain license by transferring this title to device using audiobook...

I report a solution from Portable player FAQ, let me know if it works:
1. Delete the title in the Overdrive Media Console program.
2. Then log into the Audiobook site at and click on My Account, My eItems Checked Out, and click the Download button the website to re-download the book.
3. Transfer the newly downloaded parts to your player.

Downloading info from the computer to the Sansa

Here is the link to the full user manual, which will be helpful:

This player will only play eBooks in the loosest sort of way - the ebook MUST be in mp3 format. It will not save chapter bookmarks or play in the right order unless you manually edit the id3 tag for each chapter of the audiobook.

Can't play downloaded audiobook

I'm having problems with audible books myself but I think I can help you with your problem. The audible website should have demanded that you download the audible manager. When you open this program (if you haven't already done so) you need to add your device from the menu on the left side of the screen. Follow the directions (I don't think I need to walk you through that) and once your device is now listed in that menu on the left side of the screen right click on it and select activate device. It will then prompt for your audible user name and password. Having done that your device should play the file if it is indeed audible compatible. if that doesn't work you're sol.

Audiobook tracks out of order

Manual is available online at RCA's website if it has been misplaced:

Turn shuffle off - p.16 of your manual - to get songs to play in sequential rather than random order.

For Audiobooks - p. 13 of manual:
Press M twice to enter Home menu. To play
music files, highlight “Music”(or "Audiobooks"
to play audible files) by pressing or .
Then press to advance.

Playing Songs, Audiobooks, and Podcasts on iPod shuffle iPod shuffle allows you to play your audio files in a couple different ways—you can play songs, audiobooks, and podcasts in the order in which they appear on your player, or let iPod shuffle work its namesake magic for you (that is, shuffle the files by playing them randomly).
Show Me How
If you want iPod shuffle to play audio files in the order in which they appear on the player, move the switch on the top of the iPod shuffle to the play in order (circular arrows) position. If you want iPod shuffle to play songs in random order, move the switch to the shuffle (crossed arrows) position.
ip02_playfnky_04_shuflebutton.gif This iPod Shuffle is set to shuffle.
To play music, an audiobook, or podcast, just press the Play/Pause button. To skip to the next song (or a different song if you're in shuffle mode, or a different chapter if you're listening to an audiobook or podcast), press the Next/Fast-forward button. To fast-forward through the audio, hold down the Next/Fast-forward button. To go back to the beginning of a song (or the previous chapter), press the Previous/Rewind button; press this button twice to go to the previous song or hold it down to rewind through the file.
To stop play, press the Play/Pause button during play. To turn off iPod shuffle, move the switch to the Off position (you shouldn't see green beneath the switch).

Download audio book

I bought a MuVo V100 specifically because a sister uses it very successfully for audio books. I'm still learning because it doesn't seem easy to do, but she managed fine. So don't assume it won't work for books.

The icons are confusing to deal with but the book will be in the "folders." When you find Library A, you push the button thing IN. Then you scroll sideways until your title comes up.

I've done it myself but kind of accidentally. Can't do it twice the same way!
