Replace Battery Cover

I need to replace the battery cover on my Fuji FinePix 2600 camera, which is broken. I can't figure out how to get it off. It is held in place with a metal pin.

Yes, I have the replacement cover. When I went to replace the broken cover, that is when I realized I couldn't figure out how to remove the broken one.

Ok, I got the back cover off (and it does have a ribbon cable attached). But I am still unable to remove the metal bar holding the battery cover in place. The bar is between two holes that are in a solid piece of plastic and there doesn't seem to be enough give to be able to remove the bar. Also, I have tried pushing down on the end of the bar in case it was spring loaded like on watch bands, but that didn't work. Am I missing something here or not applying enough force? I just don't want to break it and make matters worse...

cammedic, thank you so much for your help. You're awesome!! It didn't even dawn on me to try and pull the pin out. My needle nose pliers were not small enough, but tweezers did the job.

Same problem... cover cracked around latching protrusion on center
outside edge. Only a matter of time until it breaks off completely.
Seems a simple fix, although the only replacement cameras I've seen so
far are around $50... Ouch... for a 2MB camera, that's a bit steep on
    a replacement part...

Anybody got a line on some less expensive replacement battery doors?

Okay,

Separating the front and rear covers of the camera is not that difficult. You'll need a good small cross point screwdriver. I do not have a 2600 in front of me, but the 2650 is similar. Remove all the screws around the sides of the camera. The top sections are snapped together. work along the back edge to undo the snap tabs. I do not remember if there is a ribbon cable attached so go easy when you remove the back half.

My chat is not working yet, so if you want to go this far, let me know

You have to drive the pin out toward the back of the camera. (I am still using a 2650 for reference) I just tried it by grabbing the middle of the pin with needle nosed pilers and it pushed right out.

Battery cover clips broken

I had the same problem with mine, sent mine to Fuji for repair.
Unfortunately they no longer have parts for this model, 8-(. I simply had to resort to using tape to keep the cover closed.

Need to replace battery door.

i have not replaced the battery door but have disassembled an S5000 following the service manual

it looks like once you complete the first step 'Removing the R CABINET ASSY' you can withdraw the hinge pin and replace the battery cover without any more disassembly [see attached image]

My fuji finepix 2600 cam is simply eating all the energy out of fully loaded, new batteries. Nothing wrong with the loader. Is the cam destroyed or what ?

Digital cameras are high drain devices, regular batteries finish fast, need to use alkaline plus batteries; also take out batteries out of the camera, when not in use.

Broken cover on a Fuji FinePix S5000

I think it will stay closed with painters tape or gaffer tape. this type of tape is blue or black. it is strong but not super sticky. I also have the same camera. my battery cover broke after the strap got stuck on a door handle to my office and the door kinda crunched it.

How do I replace the battery cover

There is a little spring latch on the larger of the 2 metal components, (the one mounted to the body) on the cover. Raise this gently and the cover just slips off. A replacement can be bought from Camerashop.in for about $10. Fuji wanted £97 to do this!

Battery cover

Hi,
I had a look at my S5000 and see what you are talking about. Those tabs are part of the inner shell, likely expensive to replace if even cost effective. In the past, I have cut the broken tabs off, leaving a flush surface. I then drill small holes and insert large head screws that I file to match the door tabs. It does require some finite work but is possible without disassembly of the camera.

They really want you to buy a new camera instead!
TAPE it shut!
Otherwise you can sometimes find equipment sold 'as-is' for parts on eBay or other internet sites.
Do a web-search for it.
