I have a new NB205 mini toshiba lap top and i am getting a cooling system error return for service. But if i shut it off and pull the battery sometimes it works for a while and the fan comes on.

hmmm, you could try booting into bios (hitting del key at bootup) and see what the internal temp readings are. Laptops have tricky cooling schemes that usually rely on one fan and heat pipes. If I were you I would backup my data and take it to a qualified laptop repair shop.

try removing the battery and just use plug power only if it boots normally then change the battery and the change the power supply unit as well I would just start with the power supply unit first then see if the battery charges up if not the battery is bad replace it. Now if the computer will not start with the battery removed then you have a power supply issue.
Change and replace it. Hope this helps. Also when computer lap top get hot they will shut down to protect the computer wait and let it cool down then try to restart your computer. If this does work and the lap top restarts normally get a fan cooler that is USB powered and the lap top sits on top of it. Also make sure the fan is running and is not stopped. Clean and dust it out once in awhile. I hope this assists you with your problem. John

Please recheck model number. For all the headache and expense this is NOT a wise idea. The motherboard is listed at about $350 average, and for that you can buy a whole new netbook.

if your norton has a time for expir then every norton license u can use 3 time installation just try with that kay and CD

Yes, Disassemble the laptop either yourself, or a have a tech do it. Clean the System out, and also, if needed.. Replace the fan. Toshiba has a spart division. or you can try to find the fan on google. shouldnt be more than 15 bucks.

Just to be sure, check the temperature of the system with any 3rd party softwares and see whether its in the optimal range.

You can do it however you need to get Toshiba own driver and that cost as much as new laptop LOL…I usually upload all my stuff to my website and downloaded to my notebook that way avoid eth extra expenses ... The laptop is not turning on?

Remove the battery and try boot the machine on AC power only. If the computer starts up turn it back off, reinsert the battery and try to boot the computer again.
If it still won't boot with the battery inserted then i suggest you send or take the computer back as there is a hardware problem.
