Question about Lexmark Z1420 InkJet Photo Printer
On my lexmarks, the cartridge resets are on the Lexmark tab in the programs menu after hitting the start button. They are in with the cartridge maintenance tab. This all comes from the software download. I hope this helps you,, Mechanic

Try resetting the ink settings on the printer's program. I use compatable cartidges all the time in my lexmark no problems, as long as i always rest the ink before i start a new one. Try a good clean too. Why are you contacting hp site if your printer is a lexmark. You need the lexmark site. I thought your printer issue is with a lexmark z1420

IF YOU'VE ALREADY TRIED TO UNPLUG AND LET REST AND THAT DID NOT HELP , THEN UN-INSTALL YOUR SOFTWARE OUT OF ADD & REMOVE PROGRAMS AND RE-INSTALL FROM SCRATCH .

did u change / replace the cartridge with original spare or refilled it??
this kind of problem often follows with an unbranded cartridge change and or refilling..!!
it also can be the defective cartridge itself causing such problem..!!
well if u r a professional then just dip a cotton into isopropyl alcohol n gently rub the connector sensor/ contact surface, n reinsert it properly, gently rub on the head too n make sure ink is coming/flowing, make sure the toner is not jammed or dried up, also have a glance on the 'carriage' n see that no sensor pins are broken and or bend..!!
..if u r not an professional, make sure it is properly inserted and the ink-spill protective/head covering is removed and call ur system admin....
if all the above fails, then it may b a defective cartridge..!!
