Writing DL disc

Hi,
I use a Compaq V6608AU laptop. The issue here is with writing a DVD9.

DVD ROM: Slimtype DVD A DS8AIP (supports DVD+R DL mode) Using imation 8.5 gb DVD+R DL to burn. Softwares: Nero and DVDfab Platinum ver: 4.0.5

I am able to write CDs or DVD5s with ease. I have tried to write a DL disc using both the softwares to no avail. After a few seconds, the softwares (DVDfab or Nero) stop responding (when I check in the task manager) and the dvd in the drive is rotates violently!! (sorry i do not know if there is a technical term for this).

So, i end the process then manually eject the drive. Is this a firmware issue? can anyone help me with this... like i said I am facing an issue only with DVD9.

If the drive is violently rotating, and only doing it for these discs, it may not be able to handle them. This sounds like a product issue (not the software you are using as it funtions ok with past items. Your sytem may not support double layer discs.

This model of computer does not have a blu-ray drive unless you got a third party upgrade. In this case, you will need to track down special drivers, which can best be done by whomever sold you the drive.
