Question about Sony BRAVIA KLV-S40A10 40 in. HD-Ready LCD Television
My 40" bravia about 2 years old shut off spontaneously in the middle of a program tonight. Red power light constantly blinks rhythmically 4 times. Tried unplugging and replugging. Gets power with sound, no picture for about 5 seconds then spontaneously shuts off again and the red power light begins to flash. Changed power bars. No effect. Is there a hardware problem? Something burned out inside? Expensive to fix?
Re: sony flat panel lcd tv mod. # klv s 40a10.
No power. When power button is pressed, nothing happens.
The stand-by at the power supply ( cn6201) measures to be 3.47 v. instead of 5 v. However, when I unplug cn6201 (5 pin connector) I can read 5v. at the power supply.

Sounds like you may have a bad inverter board. This board powers the back light on the lcd panel. This board may be replaceable or the complete panel may need to be replaced. If the panel must be replaced you will be buying a new tv. Very expensive part. If the inverter is available seperatelly then it may be worth repairing. You should contact a Sony ASC for an estimate. Good Luck
