Question about Siemens SpeedStream 5260 ADSL LAN Modem p/n 060-5260-003 (SPEEDSTREAM5260)

Speed problems upgraded my internet to higher speed but i constantly have to powercycle the modem to maintain my higher speed.

I guess this problem has something to do with your filter
(a filter is a small matchbox sized box that lies betweeen oyur wall jack and modem and it act as a splitter which splits your telephone and modem)

try bypassin this small box and connect the cable from the back of your modem directly into your wall jack instead of connectin it to your filter..

Firmware upgrade for Speedstream SS2602 wireless router, we have upgraded our internet access speed to 12/5 with COX Cable and we can only get 5.5/2.5 speed. When we hook directly to COX modem we get 23/5...

The information may be a bit misleading. What COX said about DOCSIS version is for cable modem standard. The higher the number the better the speed. However, it seems that the modem is already getting THAT speed. Some other device (perhap SS2602) is slowing it down.
It seems that SS2602's WAN side only support 10Mbps connection, which, in term, limit the speed to 10Mbps each way. The actual throughput may be even lower. Should that be the case a new router would be recommanded.

Connection is slow

the internet connection it's slow?
try to go to
run a test if it's a lot lower than the speed you're paying for make sure you dont have a splitter or filter between the modem and the jack.
if you dont replace the phonecable
powercycle to the modem.
if stills doesnt help connect the modem straight to the pc without the router.
if the speed its a lot faster its going to be a problem with the router, if the problem persist contacn you internet service provider.

I have a cable modem and router my family has 3 pcs on it while i am downloading a file it slows down the other computers to where they are useless is thier any way around this

Your problem is not with your cable modem or router, Your internet service is your problem.

Consider upgrading your package to a higher upload/download speed than you currently have.

My DSL works fine except when I try to see a News Video. It loads a little at the time and then reloads again. During the reloading time the screen freezes and holds that position until it begins to reload...

It depends on the Speed that you have from your ISP
Go to and check your speed
If the speed is fine proceed as follows....

If XP--> Open Internet Explorer-->GO to internet options-->Delete Cookies, Delete Temp internet Files,Clear Cache

If Vista-->Open Internet Explorer-->GO to internet options-->Delete Temp Browsing history,Cookies,Cache etc

If MAC--> Clear private data

If Still not resolved do a complete powercycle

Turn the Computer,Modem,Router(if u have it) off ,wait for 30 seconds then turn the Modem,Router(if u have it) and the Computer

Connection keeps dropping quite freqeuntly after modem speed has been upgraded to a hihger speed

This sounds like the modem is not made to handle the speed that you are looking for. When you upgrade speeds on your internet connection you sometimes will need to upgrade the router

WRT150N Linksys router disables internet?

Please try the following:
1. Download the latest firmware for your router from linksys website, with the direct connection.

2. Connect the computer back to router, upgrade the firmware.

3. Then powercycle modem, router and check internet connectivity.
