Question about RCA HD50LPW42 50" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

RCA hd50lpw42yx2 not working

When you turn the power on, the set clicks internally (power supply?) and the light on the power button comes on. Said light stays on for about 10 seconds, flickers once, then set clicks again and light goes out. No picture, no sound. Not sure whether the remote works or not. Thanks for your help!

Funny, the first thing I'd have thought to do was throw away a couple hundred bucks on a bulb (as guest above did), but I followed your advice and the TV is back on. All those parts and it's these 4 caps that blow, amazing.

hi. anyone know exactly how to replace these capacitors? can they simple be pulled off? do you need to turn them at all?

Will NTE,CAP-1000MF 35V 105*C RAD. work to solve this problum?

Similar problem. So, I've opened up the back, and think I found the AC-In board (furthest to the Left, while facing the back of TV) and have found 4 1000mf caps. These are not the tallest caps and the location on the board is different from description. I just want to be sure that I'm looking at the right board. Any idea what the cap labels are?

There are 4 1000 mf. 35 V caps. on the AC IN pwb. (power supply) that are chronic fail items. After back is off, slide the chasis on the left side back toward you. Slide about 1/2 inch and it will lift out of track and then the chasis will be more accessible. The said caps are the tallest on the bd. and 2 are located side by side on the bottom front of the chassis. The other two are side by side about an 1 1/2 above the other 2. Most likely the top of the caps are pooched out. Replace all 4 whether they look bad or not. Problem solved

Tv wont turn on

The green light indicates that it is getting power from the outlet ok.
The clicking is the power relay trying to turn it on but there is an internal fault forcing it to shutdown. You either have a power supply problem, horizontal output transistor (HOT) is shorted or a bad flyback transformer. In any case it can most likely be repaired by a qualified technitian. If it is the flyback it may be expensive.
