Question about Mitsubishi WD-62725 62" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

WD62725 Lamp I replaced the lamp in my wd62725 tv only to have it not work. I left the door off of the lamp compartment and closed the interlock switch to see if the lamp was coming on. It was coming on ,but only for about 10 seconds. Then I would get a 34 code. Could anyone help with this problem? Thanks John

What does hdmi is blocked mean

HDMI blocked could mean, that one or more HDMI inputs are turned off. In WD- series DLP TVs it's possible to disable one or more inputs, which are not to be in use, to speed up signal source switching. Most of modern sets are constantly monitoring inputs and automatically recognizing "plug"n"play" signals. blocking any input would not cause TV to shut down.
Yellow(amber) light means: lamp door interlock switch is off or malfunction. green blinking: set is initializing, about to begin normal operation. So: quite possible that lamp has been replaced incorrectly or door is not tight intermittently. Last possible issue: door's interlock switch is bad. Take lamp door off and you will find the switch with blue lever on the left side of the door inside plastic compartment. Push it with your "pinky" or pencil carefully, then ask someone to turn set on. Make sure, yellow light is off, before do so. If set starts normally, observe lamp's activity: it should stay on and getting brighter, while you holding switch. If lamp stops working, while there is no "amber" light, then TV shuts off, red blinks, lamp is bad. I just had to replace lamp twice, due to defective batch of lamps with housing. 3rd time I replaced bare bulb and it solved the problem. But there was no "amber" issue!
good luck,

DLP TV won't run after replacing lamp.

When the lamp on your DLP blows out or the "replace lamp" light says it's time to replace the lamp, you do, then the unit will not power on you may not have inserted the lamp fully, correctly or the interlock switch may not be closing completely on the lamp door.

For safety purposes DLP TV's have an electrical interlock where the lamp door closes. The set cannot be energized with the lamp door off or open. If you remove the lamp door you should see an arm on the door and a slot in the frame with the contact for the switch visible through it. Make sure that the arm is not broken off or damaged in any way.

With the door removed, remove the lamp assembly being careful not to touch any of the glass. If you still have the replacement instructions reread them and follow the reassembly instructions carefully.

Be certain that the lamp assembly is installed properly and seated completely on the power plug. When you are absolutely sure that it is mounted correctly, attach the lamp door making certain that the interlock is being depressed by the arm on the door.

If the unit still does not power on remove the back from the set. This generally involves removing many screws around the perimeter and should be obvious if studied for any length of time. Once the back is removed look at the interlock switch and make sure it is mounted correctly. Many times removing and reinstalling the lamp door will move the switch (if it is loose) causing the switch to not perform it's task and clear the fault for the lamp door.

If the unit appears to be mounted correctly use a DMM to check the continuity of the switch both open and closed. If the switch shows continuity when depressed it is good. Reassemble the unit and try it. If the lamp door switch was the problem you unit should now work.

If your unit still will not work I have a tip at which may be helpful for more advanced troubleshooting.

You can press the "DEVICE" and "MENU" keys on the front of the TV (not the remote) and the TV should flash an error code. Here is a chart.

Error Code Probable Cause
12 No error detected
22 Recovery from momentary Reset
32 Lamp Cover open
33 Air Filter Cover open
34 Lamp abnormality
35 Chassis Fan failure
36 Exhaust (Back Cover) or Lamp Ballast Fan failure
37 Engine (DMD or Lamp) Fan failure
38 Excess Lamp Temperature
39 Excess DMD Temperature
41 Short Detected
44 DVI Cable (between Chassis and Engine) disconnected

If the code is lets say 36 the LED will flash 3 times then pause then 6 flashes.

Green projection lamp not working

  1. you will need a manual screwdriver to remove the panel. You need a soft non-abrasive cloth to avoid any contact with your fingers and the lamp assembly.
  2. Turn off the Projector. After the unit has cooled down properly, remove the power cord from the outlet..
  3. Remove Lamp Compartment Door. The lamp compartment on projectors islocated underneath the projector unit. For Rear Projection TVs, the lamp compartment is located in the rear bottom left or right side of the TV.. Remove the screws and the lamp compartment door.
  4. Remove Lamp Assembly. pull out the lamp assembly disconnect any power cords that is still connected to the lamp assembly. Put it aside and don't get it confused with your new lamp!
  5. Clean Lamp Compartment. Dust gets everywhere and while you have the projector open, use a soft cloth to remove any loose dust from the lamp compartment.
  6. Insert New Lamp Assembly. reconnect any power cables to the new lamp if present and slide the new lamp into the compartment in the same orientation that the original lamp came out.
  7. Replace Lamp Compartment Door. Set the lamp compartment door back into place and securely screw in the door without screwing it in too tight

(incase you don't uplugg the tv first). ALSO you must to put the lamp door back on after replacing the lamp.(or else Mr. interlock switch won't let the tv turn on )

My lamp light is on my tv - I get sound n

If this is an LCD projection set and the "lamp" light is on the front, then the lamp needs to be changed. No, these are not covered under warranty. All of these lamps have lifetimes. The lamp has failed. Replace it being careful to completely close the access door. There are interlocks that prevent the set from working if the door is not completely closed.
