Won't go into the final spin cycle and overflows

My washing maching gets to the last few minutes of the cycle and instead of going into the final spin cycle, it refills and does not empty. This will repeat over and over. I discovered the problem when we had a flood yeserday. I have to shut off the machine and put it into spin olnly to get rid of the water in the machine.

I turn it off and start a new cycle and it still shuts off

Sounds like you are getting direct power to one or both of the water valves and bypassing the pressure switch that controls the water level. Are you sure it never goes into final spin? Could it be that the cycle ends and then the water starts coming in again? What happens if you try to open the lid? Does it stay locked? Is there any error signal on the display?

For Dinkysouth:
Apparently your machine is getting power to the water valves when it should be draining and then going into Spin. Also, since it keeps filling to the point where it overflows there must be a constant signal from the electronic board that bypasses the water level pressure switch. If you can, you should go into the Service Program and check the individual items. Most likely, you will end up needing a new board.

How much water does a 7kg front loader use?

Depends what cycle it's used on. For example "Spin" uses no water at all.
If you want to measure it, run a cycle without laundry, and mark on a piece of paper tape stuck to the porthole how far up the water level reaches. Count how many times the machine empties and refills during your chosen wash cycle. After the final spin, close the door, and slowly refill the machine via the detergent drawer from a graduated jug or watering can, until the water level reaches the mark on the porthole. Multiply the volume poured in by the number of cycles, and there's your answer - approximately.

Sounds like corrosion in the motherboard . Get an electronics serviceman to take a look, could just need soldering point to point connection. Hope this helps.

LG Tromm WM2277 leaking from back bottom

The last spin is the final Emptying phase. There has to be a leak somewhere in the exiting water route. All tubing and the water pump along with all clamps will need to be checked for integrity.

Zanussi 1400 Front Loader: Machine washs clothes as per normal but does not drain the water and cannot go into the spin cycle. Sits there doing nothing then starts bleeping.

This is almost certainly a simple problem with your empty pump filter being clogged. The empty cycle is timed and if it can't get all the water out in time because the filter is blocked and slowing the empty down, then it will fail safe and won't step on to the final spin cycle with excess water in the drum. While it's trying to get the water evacuated, you will probably see the machine doing a slow tumble for up to 8 minutes and you may also hear the empty pump running too.

Not knowing the model of your machine, I can provide some generic advice. Please add a comment to this thread if you need more help. You need to locate and clean the filter. Depending on the model there is probably a round filter cap on the front of the machine at the bottom (It may be behind a small door or hidden behind a clip on panel on the bottom) Many models of this design also have a small hose to the left of the filter cap that you can pull out, remove a plug from and drain off any water in the filter before you remove the filter and get your floor wet, so take a look for this before you remove the filter and get soaked.
