Allright, i had two and i just cut one in half, there's no inner ink reservoir -the body of the cartridge is itself the container. so you can just buy a refill kit (mine is the NCR Universal black inkjet refill kit) it's about 10 bucks at the local walgreens and it comes with a little hand drill and the tape to seal up the hole. the process can be a little messy, so be sure and do it near your more valuable textiles. what's cool about these kits is that they carry about as much ink as you'd find in 8 cartridges, so it'll save you about 75-100 bucks. and 4 or 5 trips to the computer store. Some other cartridges, made for other printers, have a little sticker that you peel back to reveal a hole already drilled -and, what's more if you're impressing one of your inkless friends, be sure and pack some new tape in your bag before you go over there and ink up the guts of their printer.

As always I start with the dreaded question. Did you use a refilled cartridge in your printer? If so, remove it and install a new HP cartridge. Recycled cartridges are famous for this type of failure. By the way the error code is a Windows error code. If you haven't found a solution to the " ink system failure " yet, it is quite easy to reset (using the buttons) on HP C7180. You can find the reset instructions on my website:

How to convert photosmart printer cartridge to refillable one

Yes conversion kits are available. I always recommend using a brand specific kit rather than the universal.

One company 4InkJets, claims that, "Our HP Ink Refill Kits are not universal kits. Each Refill Kit is specifically designed to work with a specific HP cartridge. Our refill kits are the best way to save money and still print at high quality. All of our HP Ink refill kits are dual refill kits which means you can fill up your cartridges twice. We also have clear and easy instructions on how to refill your cartridges. Our refill kits are backed by a one year 100% satisfaction guarantee."

Ink and Print issues always says replace blk and yellow ink and printer says its ready to print but won't print on HP Photosmart C6180

If you have replaced them and it still says so than it is not reading the chip on the back of the cartridge. push and wiggle the cartridge and see if there is a change. If you do a lot of printing and are tired of getting screwed by HP look at the refillable carts on this page "" . Just never use any other brand of ink. cheap ink will kill the printer.

C6180 printer

Well I hear time and time again that the non-manufactured ink is cheaper - and people are right since it really is. Unfortunately since the cartridge is a knock off of the original or a refill any number of things can happen including jams, ink leaking, false readings, power issues, and so forth.

I suggest you take out the OEM cartridges and put in real hp cartridges. The hp printers are getting smarter about genuine cartridges and sometimes will not accept which could be what your experiencing. Replace the cartridge with real hp cartridge and try to print something out.
