Dell Latitude C400 PC Notebook

My notebook won't charge my battery. I have two batteries, one brand new and it charged once to 100% and since my power meter reads 0% charging. Is there a internal battery thats causing the battery to not charge?

Battery charging LEDs not light but charging up to 76 %

If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

My dell latitude c400 does not take a charge do i have to buy a new battery ?

Yes, most likely you may need to replace the battery. Try to get a different cell capacity this time (I do not know if you currently have a 6 cell or 9 cell battery). Once it's not keeping a charge it most likely has a problem.
Hope this helps...

You can check the battery by following the procedure written below.
  • charge the battery by connecting the charger.Look if it is showing the charging logo in the toolbar.
  • now remove the charger and go to screen saver option and select the power option.
  • there you will find power meter option.
  • it will show the battery logo. Now check the discharging rate of the battery.
  • this will tell you if tour battery is working fine.

Dell C400 Laptop Battery not charging

Go into the battery properties and check if the battery is charging. If it says it is, then test it, use the battery to see if it really is charging, they will sometimes give a false reading. If it's not charging, then check the power supply with an ohm meter for the proper output. If this all checks good, but the battery isn't charging, then I'm afraid you have a failed power management system on the motherboard. The power management system controls the charging along with other power related aspects of the machine. If the power management system has failed, then unfortunately, you will have to replace the motherboard in order to fix it.

My Dell Latitude C400 does not power on. I bought a new power cord and battery and it still does not power on. Is it unsalvageable?

Do you see a green charging light when you plug it in?
If not, i would reccmond scraping it for parts and sell it on ebay, craigslist or somewhere else.

Battery not charging

Hi,
No, the problem is in the power circuit of the motherboard. I believe on your model, it's ann additional piece which can be replaced, but I'm not 100%.
Probly not cost effective to repair unless you do it yourself.
Sorry.
Good luck
