I have a NS-PDVD8 . I purchased DEC 2006. I used it in April 2007 and then again in Jan.2008. When I went TO use March -2008 I received message NO DISCwhen attempting to play DVD.i messed with for an hour by rebooting and and dusting with compressed air.No help

next day I tried a CD and after very long loading time played music.
after I let it run for an hour I attempted DVD but same response.NO DISC

I cleaned the optical lens with a damp soft cloth and dried with soft cloth ( I do not recommend using a cloth but I was fed up and needed the player for flight next day) I believe you can purchase a cleaner kit.

I also ran the lens back and forth 5 or 6 times to make sure it could move fully along track.I heard clicking and wondered if this was ever going to run again.

I tried a CD first and the Cd loaded almost immediately and played

Next I tried a DVD and loaded successfully and played entire movie.

I turnred on and off about 10 times and reloaded movie without any problem.

With the power turned off, open the DVD Player, and then open the top where you load the DVD into the player. Locate the laser lens and notice that the laser is attached to a transport assembly that moves the laser diagonally outward in a slot. 1. Slide this assembly outward to the end of its track. 2. Slide the assembly back inward to the closest inward position. 3. Repeat the process of sliding the assembly outward and then back inward.4. Put in a music CD and let it play all the way through. This helps to calibrate the laser head assembly movement. When the music CD is finished playing. 5. Put in a DVD, and you should have a working unit again This is a factory solution from Mintek that was given to a customer who ask for help with the forever loading disc problems. Dvd player refuses to read any disc I load into the machine

Hello I was looking to try and help you with your DVD player, we will start by loading a music cd store purchased, no burned cds please, if the cd loads and plays then your dvd player is either out of adjustment or going bad, most dvd players, i have worked on, will load and play a music cd, but will show loading errors when trying DVD's. If the music cd dosen't load then there could be an issue with the drive or tray. If the music cd plays just fine, then your laser is either out of adjustment or going bad. You can call the manufacuter to see if there is a process for resetting the DVD player, not all DVD players have this option, if resetting the DVD player dosen't work, but music cd's do then your laser lens is dirty or going bad. At this point you have three options 1) Take it to a repair shop, 2) Get an new one, 3) Get your hands dirty if your really handy and know what your doing to clean and replace the laser. I hope I can be of further assitance and I look forward to helping in the future, Thank You and have a nice day.

Won't load disc

Not sure exactly what happened, but the unit works beautifully now. Perhaps cleaning did the trick? spinning definitely got it to work manually. After sitting an hour or 2, I tried it and all worked fine, CD's and DVD's too.

No disc

The optical lens is out of alignment. This is why it will read CDs which have much larger data pits that DVDs.

The unit should be able to read and playback CDs (both production and burned) and DVDs (both production and burned). If the optics are out of alignment and exceed their tolerances, the player will not read discs.

This is caused fromt he player being dropped or jarred.

This is not an easy fix for the home user. This is something that a qualified professional needs to correct.

I have a problem regarding my D1816 dvd player

Put in an audio cd and see if it will play music. If it does, you may be able to get a dvd/cd cleaner and run it to clean off a possible dirty lens.
