Re: compaq presaria m2000
Fan is controlled by a temp sensor on Mobo and by CPU. I hard wired my "dead" fan to a constant 5V power supply (off the battery bus) and now it runs constantly, doesnt bother me and I have yet to lock up. My CPU cover actually discolored and warped because my fanless CPU got so hot!
Thanks I may try this after all else fails. Is there a reinstall of a driver solution or even reinstall xp?
I recently noticed my M2000 getting extremely hot, as in so hot it hurts to touch. The fan seems to work sometimes, but now it will randomly refuse to boot up, and it constantly locks up.
Sometimes it will lock up before anything even finishes loading in Windows, sometimes it will take a few minutes then do it. I have tried it in Safe Mode and it still EVENTUALLY locks up every time. The longest I have been able to use it before it freezes is 5 minutes.
Any ideas?
