Question about Magellan GPS 310 GPS Receiver
HELLO , MY MAGELLAN GPS 310 WILL NOT LOCK / TRACK SATS. IT WILL ALSO DISPLAY A "FAIL MESSAGE " IF YOU TURN IT ON WHILE HOLDING DOWN ON THE GO TO BUTTON ( AFTER GOING THROUGH A KEYPAD CHECK AND A DISPLAY CHECK ) . DOES MY UNIT NEED TO BE RESET ( AND IF SO , HOW DO I ACCOMPLISH THIS ) , OR IS MY UNIT JUST TRASH AT THIS POINT ? THANKS .

Turn on the power while holding the right arrow. This resets the unit. You will then have to reset the time, date, and location.

Thanks. Initially, my 310 showed wrong position, time and date, but correcting them resulted more mess. No satellites were found and tracking after being locked into (even 8 or more) satellites did not start at all.
Powering off by holding first pwr then right arrow button down: Yes it does work, but you actually need several (appr. 4-5)attempts and furthermore, you need to hold on pwr and right arrow down while turning it on. No extra waiting over night or anything else was needed - just the right timing when holding the buttons. After that you will be asked erase memory, YES/NO, and answering yes it will be resetting like EZSetup.

The 'right arrow / power' combination does work but it may take several attempts. Leave the GPS 'off' for an hour or so before first trying it.
I then had to leave my 310 on overnight before it eventually managed to track 3 or more satellites. So far today it has worked perfectly and has been tracking up to 6 satellites! (But I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it continues.)
