Upgrade RAM I have an LG LW70 that I have had for about 18 months. I need to upgrade the RAM (to the maximum) to achieve better speed from it. Do you have any idea what this will cost and what RAM I need to acquire?

Hi, I have a ThinkCentre A51 Series Type 8122KQF system with a Pentium 4 (533MHz FSB) processor on an IBM Barbados motherboard. I would like to upgrade to 4GB RAM(2x2GB to utilize dual channel). What is...

FSB speed is what the RAM works at. If you get faster RAM that is ok, it will work but only at the FSB speed. If you get slower RAM then it works at the slower speed or may cause issues.

I have a G320 laptop with 512 SO-DIMM DDR400 and 1 GhZ procesor ,OS WIN XP, how can I run my G320 faster

    Hi,
There is nothing much that can be done to speed up the system as it can not go beyond 1GHz Processing speed, but several operating system tweaks and some hardware upgrade could make a little but notable difference.
As for Hardware, you may increase the RAM. You can upgrade memory on ECS Elitegroup Computer G320 upto a maximum of 1.0 GB (The ECS Elitegroup Computer G320 takes the PC2100 DDR SDRAM SODIMMs Memory)
Secondly, You may increase the size of PAGE FILE, uninstall unwanted software, Remove unwanted start-up items, Clean Junk Files/ Temporary files, De-fragment the Hard Disk to achieve the maximum speed and performance that EliteGroup G320 PC can give.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

2GB is the maximum amount of ram you can install in your Dimension 2400. Depending on how much ram you have in it now,.. you could get a substantial speed difference by upgrading. You can upgrade the video card if you want. If you want to upgrade to 2 GB and upgrade to a decent vid card,.. you are looking at about $180 for parts. you will need to determine if that is something you want to put into the 2400 or buy a new computer with substantial speed and performance difference for about $500 from Dell. If you have any further questions, please post a comment here and I will answer them for you.

I want to upgrade the standard 512mb RAM to 2GB. once installed do I just restart the computer or do I need to do something to allow the computer to recognize the new RAM?

    Hi,

You should be fine to just turn the computer on straight away as soon as you have installed your new RAM. The computer will recognize the new upgrade straight away provided you have got memory that is compatible with the desktop computer.

When you upgrade the RAM take the old RAM out and make sure your new RAM runs at the same speed as your old RAM.

From what i can remember the maximum RAM speed that an HP pavilion supports is 400MHz although it could well be 333MHz.

The RAM that's installed in the desktop at this moment in time will have the speed on it so you check with that.

    Regards.

I have a Emachines 740 with an Intel Pentium 4 1.60ghz, what options do i have to upgrade the CPU to speed it up and what is the maximum ram i can install? Any help would br great. Thanks

It would be better if you just leave the CPU upgrade, but focus more on upgrading the RAM to get a higher speed.
You should be able to upgrade it to 4GIG (on the very high side though) but I would suggest that you should stay at 3GIG.
    Hope this helps you out.
    Best of luck

Dear Sir i have pentium 4 motherboard 865gbx and i wanted to upgrade the ram. so maxixmum how much ram it will support and wat shd be speed like..333mhz??

IT supports Maximum 2GB DDR400 RAM.
It mainly depends on the Processor speed.I think 1gb RAM is sufficient for Your Pentium 4 configuration. If you use more than 1Gb.there is no remarkable speed difference between them.So better choice is use 1GB RAM.

Looking at the manual for this motherboard your maximum ram is 512mb in two sticks of 256mb each. Speed rating is pc133 (maximum). You may struggle with the external hard drive as you only seem to have usb 1.1 and not usb 2.0
