Normal 0 There are a number of things that can cause the computer or the camera to freeze up.
First I’d check to see how much memory is installed in the computer. It takes additional memory to operate the camera.
Hope this helps. Bud

Hi Here's what you need to do Restart your computer and hit F8 multiples times until you see a menu-like screen, if you see the Windows splash screen then repeat this step 2. Highlight and hit enter on Safe Mode with Command Prompt. Try logging in there. If it still doesn't work, then go to step17 3. If you are able to login, once a command prompt pops up, type: net user administrator password/active:yes (you can specify whatever password you want for the administrator account.) 4. If you get a message saying "The command completed successfully", then restart your computer by typing: shutdown -r 5. Boot up again pressing F8, but this time choose just Safe Mode. 6. You will be able to login as Administrator with the password you set in Step 3 7. Hit (windows logo)+R 8. Type regedit 9. Once the registry editor opens up, look for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList 10. In the left pane, find the one that starts with S-1-5..... and ends with .BAK; if you don't find one, skip to step 15 11. Right click it and click Rename, then change the .BAK to .BK 12. Right click the one with the same numbering but without the .BAK and add .BAK add the end 13. Right click the one that you renamed to .BK and clickRename, delete the .BK 14. Eventually, you have switched the .BAK from the end of the second entry to the first. That should probably fix your problem. 15. If you didn't find a .BAK then try this: Open Windows Explorer to C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Application Data 16. If you find another Application Data below the one you're on, then delete it. That should probably also fix your problem. 17. If you can't login in Safe Mode, then reboot and hit F8 until you see the menu again, then hit enter highlightingRepair Your Computer 18. Wait until all Windows Files finish loading, then hitNext when it asks keyboard language. 19. Try logging in here also, choose your user from the dropdown menu, and type the password, then jump to step 23 20. If that still doesn't work, then if you have your Windows Installation CD still, put it in and restart your computer. 21. Hit F12 until you see a menu of boot options, choose Boot from CD 22. Choose keyboard language then hit next. Find Repair Your Computer from a little below the center left. 23. Choose Open Command Prompt and type: net user administrator password /active:yes (here again you can specify a password) 24. Close the command prompt and click Restart and jump to step 5
Thanks for using Fixya.

When I try to start my web cam I keep getting this message about web cam driver did not work restart camera or computer. I have restart my computer too many time and still does not work.

It sounds like you need to update your driver for the web cam.
Step 1: Go to device manager
Step2: Find the web cam in the device list
Step3: Open Properties
Step4: Have the device manager search for driver.

Other option:
with the web cam unplugged from computer, in device manager uninstall the web cam, restart computer, then plug web cam into computer and let OS find and install drivers.

I forgot my password at my ASUS Eee PC 1005HA I can't log in.

DO NOT worry, you can login by clearing current password.

Windows Password Recovery is the tool that you need in your case. The password recovery tool is designed to reset Windows login password once you accidentally forgot it or have no access to your system including Windows 7, Vista, XP etc. By burning a bootable CD, you can enter almost any computer with Windows administrator login password protected within a few seconds. Here are the step by step tutorial, pretty easy, I am sure you can handle it!

Step 1: Download Windows Password Recovery and install it on another computer.
Step 2: Prepare a blank CD/USB and run the software and use it to burn the ISO file to it.
Step 3: Put it into the CD-ROm and restart your locked computer. Change the BIOS setting of your locked computer to make it boot from the CD-ROM or USB drive. Note: start computer and press F2 or Delete to enter BISO setup
Step 4: Boot your locked computer from the created disk and remove your forgotten password. GOOD LUCK!

I have a Dell 530 S Dell Inspiron. Its Webcam has stopped working. Any solutions

The very first step is of course to check your web cam connection. Most web cams use the USB port to connect to the PC, so check if your USB cable is properly plugged. For build-in web cams this steps does of course not apply. Many new laptops have a build-in web cam. Also try connecting your web cam directly to your PC instead of through a USB hub (if you are using one).

The next thing is to do is to check your Windows Device Manager and see if the hardware is recognized and installed properly.

It might be that the hardware is recognized as a camera, but the right drivers are not installed. The yellow explanation mark will indicate a problem.
Other devices in Windows XP device manager

If the device is not recognized in Windows XP, Right-click the device, and in the pop up menu select Update Driver Software. Then follow the instructions on screen, but make sure you allow Windows to search the web for updated drivers.

In case no driver for the web cam can be found, you can try a third party driver finding program that scans your PC for installed hardware and allows you to install missing drivers.

If this fails, the next step would be to un install the software that came with your web cam. Use the Add or Remove Programs feature in the Control Panel. If that does not work you can use a third party un installer.

After un installing the software, restart your PC and then reinstall the web cam software. In most cases this will solve the problems. Depending on the software, you might need to unplug your web cam during the software installation. If your problem is not fixed then you have to buy a new one.

Hope the above information will be helpful to you.
Thanks.

I have problems with my hp web camara it freeze it a lot on messanger any help

Hi,
If your web camera freezes check your Windows Device Manager and see if the hardware is recognized and installed properly. It might be that the hardware is recognized as a camera, but the right drivers are not installed. The yellow explanation mark will indicate a problem. If the device is not recognized in Windows XP, it will be listed under Other Devices
In either case you can try to update the drivers. Right-click the device, and in the pop up menu select Update Driver Software.
If the drivers and web cam software are correctly installed, and you still it freezes, there can be a problem with the program settings. Most chat and meeting software have a configuration option to select the video source for the web cam feature. If you have multiple devices that qualify for video, you might need to select your web cam device as the source for the web cam feature in that program. Some web cams and programs require additional software, although that should be installed with the web cam if things are right. But is does not harm to check if your Java, Flash and Quick time software are installed and up to date. But certainly check your DirectX software, since all video applications, including web cams, use DirectX for video processing. Try downloading the latest DirectX version and install it (Windows XP: DirectX 9.0c – Windows Vista: DirectX 10).

Thank you !!

My windows xp campaq laptop will not recognize the logitec 9000 webcam software.

Try to install first the driver of the cam which is in your cd/dvd driver. during the setup process, there's a step that ask you to connect the hardware which is a cam and then plug the cam and continue setup, after finishing installation, restart the computer then that's the time your cam recognized, then continue little remaining setup to finally complete the installation.
