I washed the waste ink absorbers in water untill there was no more ink. I then dried them for a week in dust free invironment. (this is because I could not find any spare absorber in Zambia) Replaced them, but I still get the same message,"Wastre ink Absorber is Full." Is there a way to RESERT this Printer? Please help.

Re: Canon PIXMA iP 1000: Waste ink abeorber is full
1. Disconnect printer power cord 2. Open the printer cover 3. Press and holding power button connect power cord 4. Close cover and release power button (you are now in service mode) 5. Download and use to reset this tool http://www.servicemanuals.ru/download/canon/ip1000st.zip 6. Unzip and remove read-only attributes from files Pattern.prn and EEPROMData.prn 7. If it did not recognize the printer on usb port - you must enter the port mannually (ex. USB017), info taken on printer properties.

you need to replace the absorber waste container. But to ensure you can work around this, do this first. Remove the square rubber at the end of the right side of your printer. Use cotton cloth absorb the waste ink. Clean and wipe the ink around area and place the absorber back into the tray. Finally clean your print head by using dry cotton swab. If this deosnt work, try this: if it doesnt solve the issue, you must replace absorber waste ink tank .
You can manually override it, but I recommend getting it replaced.
Reset waste ink tank counter CANON PIXMA iP 1000 Disconnect printer from AC power Press and HOLD the POWER button, and connect printer to AC power release the the POWER button Press the POWER button again
Call Canon at 732-521-7230 and they will sell you a new ink absorber pad.
You will need the reset code for your model printer. Find this by searching for canon used ink tank. One of the results should match your machine.
You can also take out the pad(It can be messy so wear gloves), wash with water hose, let it dry completely, and reinstall it in the printer.
This is what the manual says: Ink used for cleaning is absorbed in a waste ink absorber placed in the machine.
Press [OK] to cancel the error so that you can continue printing. Once the waste ink absorber becomes completely full, printing cannot be done until the waste ink absorber is replaced.
Canon recommends to contact a Canon service representative as soon as possible.
You'll always find the wast ink absorber under the printer head after
printer head prints and rest, there is a rubber type clip which cleans
the head and the ink drips down on the cushion absorber. Disassemble
the printer and remove the cushion than dip in the bucket of water
until ink dissolves out of the cushion and wash under running tap until clean then dry
and finish, put back the item and assemble the printer.
