Acer Aspire and Lexmark 640

I have put in the cd in the tower and my printer still won't work. I have done it twice. I have the new vista window. My old computer was windows xp, and I was able to put the printer on it with no problem. Thanks if you can help me out.

Mayba your printer driver that was in your cd is not compatible with windows vista.. try to download a new printer driver that supports windows vista from the manufacturer's site. then try to install it.. this would help you out..

Missing network drivers

If you are using windows Vista in this computer, then you just need to hook this computer to an Ethernet cable connecting one port to the router and another to the tower(CPU).
once you done with that, restart the computer, so that you will be able to go online.

Your options are either go to Acer for a replacement Vista recovery DVD or
Install a borrowed Vista DVD, must be same Vista Basic, Home Premium,
then use your registered CD key, normally located on the side or rear of your tower.
It will also tell which Vista type you have. You then must go to the Acer support site
and install then drivers for the componenets in you computer.
You will not have any other software installed that may have come with your
original setup from Acer. This option requires more work on your part, but
no cost to you. Acer will charge for a Recovery DVD, plus S&H.

I have recently purchased an acer tower which has windows vista and my lexmark 5200 printer series won't connect, help me please

vista does not work with vista compatible stuff. lol. just make sure u have the right driver and best place to find one is manufacturer site. it will tell you ether 64 bit or 32 bit vista drivers. make sure u first remove old ones so there is no compatibility issue. if it shows 86x it is same as 32bit. good luck.

Trying to re instal p4350 printer to my acer aspire (vista)It has been installed onceabout 2 years ago but my p.c. has since crashed & I now have to start as new

here is a link to the lexmark driver for your printer....
Okay, let’s assume that you’ve found the driver on the internet. The first thing you need to do is download it. As with all downloads you need to be able to find it again once you’ve downloaded it. It might be worth saving it to the desktop or even to a new folder you made called ‘drivers’. Whatever works for you. The other option is that you have the driver on a floppy or CD Rom that came with the device – this is even easier: usually you just put it in the drive and follow the instructions. Drivers these days come in two distinct types. The easiest for the general user are those drivers that come as part of an executable file (one that ends with .exe). It’s a good idea to scan the file with your virus scanner before doing anything, particularly if you’ve downloaded it. Once you’ve done that, just double click on the file name. It should do the rest – as always read any questions that it asks you. When it stops doing things, it’s done. Often it will ask you to restart Windows for the change to take effect.

I am trying to install a Lexmark 4300 on a Dell computer with Vista on it

This was posted earlier by an anonymous Fixya guest:

hi guys, i have had the same problem, i have a p4350 all in one printer and when i updated to Vista i couldnt get my install cd to work...i downloaded the install file from lexmark website...cjr4300eng.exe and all worked except OCR and FAX...i emialed lexmark and they couldnt help.....but i tricked my computer and now everything works just fine.....this what you have to do......
Step 1 - uninstall all previous lexmark software
Step 2 - download the cjr4300eng.exe file from
Step 3 - extract the file to c:\drivers\printer\4300 but do install the software, just cancel
Step 4 - once you've extracted, copy the OCR and FAX folders from the original INSTALL CD to the same directory c:\drivers\printer\4300 along with all files from the ROOT directory (autorun.inf, cdicon.ico, hidclass.sys etc) on the CD EXCEPT "setup.exe"
Step 5 - open setup.exe and wait for install, it should notify you twice of installation so be patient.....and WOLA you're done
Hope this helps guys....
