Problem with 922 AIO printer: Gives alignment errors and prints test page with Ghosts

Hi: My dads 922 started printing what looks like duplicates (ghosts) for each line of text . Appears to be an alignment problem so I ran the alignment procedure and still have the same problem. I found out there was a printer cartridge Jam that occurred during cartridge replacement, after the jam the printer ran fine for a week now gives the ghosting problem. I ran the default setting procedure in case somebody had tweaked the margin settings. Is there a sensor that verify's/adjusts the alignment and how do you adjust it or check adjustment?? Any other solutions you can offer? Thanks,Jim

    Mine also pirnts a column and then skps a column of text - it looks like stripes going down the printer

    the interlaced lines or offset, but it is at random some lines print fine or mostly fine with a missing line of pixels at the top of the type.

    My problem is about the same...some lines print ok, but most are either doubled or there are large gaps, splitting lines over about an inch of paper or so. Not sure how to even go about fixing it...I've run about every troubleshoot there is on the Dell Panel.

SOURCE: Not printing extreme right side of page

It is either your drum or open front cover see blue handle @ right hand side pull it out look at rignt hand side of printer and a door has opened (only small) pull the blue lever out and move the pad back andforwards a few times this cleans the glass.

It worked for me but I have to do it fairly often but it samve buying a new drum etc

SOURCE: Color printer won't print color

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

Try these steps if this did not resolve try to clear the memory of the printer
and try to print ..

# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.

1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.

# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.

Thhe problem is that the paper is not feeding properly, sometimes not at all. The feeder rollers are turning but nothing is happening. Also, the print is sometimes out of register printing the line slightly misaligned twice

Some older printers are not compatable with Vista, I have VMware virtual machine running so that xp drivers can be used to print with printers that don't have Vista drivers.

I have just change printer cartridge, the display is now showing printer error 1203 followed by cartridge missing could you assist me with this issue please


Hi!

To resolve the printer error 1203 on your Lexmark X5470 All-In-One (AIO) Inkjet Printer, you need to perform the following tasks---

Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Wait 30 seconds, then reinsert the power supply and power the AIO on. if the error message return then continue to print a test page. If the test page prints, the error is resolved. If still the power persists then you need to open the top cover of the AIO and remove both cartridges from the AIO. After that power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Wait 30 seconds, then reinsert the power supply and power the AIO on and if the error message return then there is a hardware problem with the printer. If error message not return then you need to again power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Reinsert the power supply and power the AIO on. Open the top cover of the AIO and insert the color cartridge. Close the top cover. If the error message returns then you need to clean the cartridge contacts.

Again try to rest it by powering off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Reinsert the power supply and power the AIO on. Open the top cover of the AIO and insert the black/photo cartridge. Close the top cover. Now print a tests page. If the test page prints, the error is resolved.

Cleaning the Cartridge Contacts
1 Open the top cover of the AIO and remove the cartridges.
2 Remove the cartridges. Clean the cartridge contacts and the AIO carrier contacts.

Checking the Cartridge
To see if the cartridge is defective, replace it with either a new cartridge or a known good cartridge from another printer of this type.
1. Turn the printer/All-In-One off and unplug the power cable from the outlet.
2. Open the printer/All-In-One lid so that the cartridge carrier can be accessed.
3. Remove the print cartridges. (For information on cleaning the cartridge contacts, click here.)
4. Using a dry, clean cloth wipe the carrier contacts gently from top to bottom.
5. Repeat Step 4 for the other cartridge slot (if applicable).
6. Reinsert the cartridges, slide the cartridge carrier to its original position, and close the printer/All-In-One lid.
7. Plug the printer/All-In-One back into the power outlet and turn it back on.

You should only follow the steps below to resolve a print quality problem if you have already attempted to solve the problem by printing a "Clean Print Nozzles" page.

Cleaning procedure - Remove the print cartridges. Moisten a clean, lint-free cloth with water. Gently hold the cloth against the nozzles for about three seconds, and then wipe in the downward direction while keeping the print head in downward position on the cloth. Using another clean section of the cloth, gently hold the cloth against the contacts for about three seconds, and then wipe in the upward direction of the print head.

With another clean section of the cloth, repeat steps 2 through 4 above. Allow the nozzles and contacts to dry completely. Reinsert the print cartridges. Print the document again. If the print quality does not improve, repeat the steps for cleaning the nozzles and contacts up to two more times.

If still the error message persists then you need to contact the Lexmark.

Print head problem


Do a reset:

Dell Printer reset

1. With the power on,unplug the power cord from the wall socket.
2. Disconnect the power supply from the back of the printer.
3. Wait 15 seconds.
4. Reconnect the power supply to the back of the printer.
Plug the power cord back into the wall socket.


Dell Printers

To run a nozzle clean, perform the following steps:
1. Verify the All-In-One Printer 922 is powered on and connected to a computer.
2. Verify that the paper support (input tray) has clean, plain white paper loaded.
3. Press the Menu button.
4. Press the Down button until Mode: Maintenance appears on the LCD screen.
5. Press the Menu button.
The Dell 922 Maintenance Menu appears on the LCD screen.

6. Press the Down button until Clean Cartridges appears on the LCD screen.
7. Press the Start button.
The AIO 922 prints the cleaning page. This process cleans the ink cartridges and resolves many print quality issues.

Dell 922 AIO does everything except print from PC


Two things to try:

1. If it prints the alignment page, sometimes you have to put the page back on the scanner glass and hit continue or start on the printer for it to scan back in the alignment page to complete the alignment process

2. If thtat's not it, try going to add/remove programs in control panel and uninstall all dell pritner software, then reinstall using the link below:

Hi,i'm using dell photo aio printer 922,i keep getting the blank page when i give print...even the test page is not printing.please help


check the ink levels. if they are not low, try to clear NVRAM by pressing the Scan button and the Up button at the same time to enter diagnostic mode. Use the Up button or the Down button to go to the option for Clear NVRAM on the LCD and press Menu to confirm. Press Menu again when asked if you are sure. Press Menu again when asked if you are really sure.

try this...

Aligning Ink Cartridges Your printer automatically aligns the ink cartridges when they are installed or replaced. To verify your ink cartridges are aligned, you can print an alignment page. After you close the printer unit, press the Menu button. The alignment page begins printing. During printing, the operator panel display reads Alignment Page Printing. When complete, the message reads Auto Alignment Complete. Your ink cartridges are now aligned for optimal print quality.
You may also need to align ink cartridges when characters are not properly formed or are not aligned at the left margin, or when vertical or straight lines appear wavy.
To align the ink cartridges:
  1. Load plain paper. For more information, see Loading Paper.

  2. Click Start® Programs or All Programs® Dell Printers® Dell Photo AIO Printer 922® Dell Printer Solution Center.

  3. Click the Maintenance tab

  4. Click Align to fix blurry edges.

  5. Click Print.

The ink cartridges align when the page prints.

Replaced colour cartridge and got error 1203

Did the error message return?
Yes:Continue to Step 2.
No: Print a test page. If the test page prints, the error is resolved.2 Open the top cover of the AIO and remove bothcartridges from the AIO. 3

Did the error message return?
Yes:There is a hardware problem with the printer. Continue to ContactingLexmark below.

Did the error message return?
