Default password and user names for NetGear routers is
Username - "admin"
Password - "password". On older routers, "1234", unless you changed them, which is highly recommended.

Motorola Surfboard 4220 not working with my Netgear WGT624 router

Make sure that you have the ethernet cord from your modem plugged into the WAN/Internet port on your router. Then unplug the power cord from your cable modem and plug it right back in. After the modem fully comes back online, unplug the power cord on the wireless router and plug it back in. wait 30 - 60 sec and then try and connect.

Most cable companies only allow one active"CPE" at a time for internet access. All this means is when you change what is connected to the cable modem you must always reboot the cable modem to allow access.

Hope this helps. Let me know if it does not work.

Please rate.

I just bought a laptop and we recently got a DSL connection, I'm not sure how to connect my laptop wirelessly ( Do I need anything else?).

If you would like to connect wirelessly to your DSL connection you will need a wireless router if your modem is not a combination modem/wireless router (You can ask your ISP regarding this). You may go to
www.linksys.com and www.netgear.com so that you may look at routers that will suit your needs.

Unable to connect to internet through netgear modem. told to uninstall firewall, this I did but still no joy.

really need more information to make an educated guess, but if this netgear is recently added, try using the control panel - add/remove and remove all programs for the netgear. Then control panel - system - device manager and uninstall the modem. Keep modem connected to pc and reboot. After it detects the modem use the modem cd to load only the driver. Let windows manage the modem.

Netgear WGR614

First thing I did with my Netgear is this.
Plug in the dsl/cable modem to the PC directly. Then install the driver on the cd. If you are one of the unlucky types like I was, the router didn't come with a cd. Try going to Netgers page see if they have a driver. Most are basically auto install. Try this before you check the netgear site though. Plug in the cable/dsl modem to the router and the pc to the router. Resstart everything. This includes the modem, router and pc. When it pops back up, try seeing if that works. if not, try opening up Internet explorer. Type this in to the url. 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.0
That should bring up the netgear setup page for the router. If it ask for a password, the password on mine was
username - admin
password - password
It has an auto configure tab so click on that and that should automatically take care of everything for you. Let me know what happens!

Can't get internet access through NetGear DG834G Router

You have to configure your router...

If your ISP provided you with IP Address, enter the assigned IP address, subnet mask, gateway IP address anbd DNS IP address for your broadband router.

If you connect to the Internet using an xDSL Modem and your ISP has provided you with a Password and a Service Name, then your ISP uses PPPoE to establish a connection. You must enter the required information.

Hope this could help..

Trying to hookup a wireless router to HP 1100

DSL uses PPOE, which may be different than what you had previously. Cable, for example, uses TCP/IP.
Re-set the router to defaults, and follow the instructions for PPOE, which should be in your manual or setup disk. Your ISP may have this info on their site, or you can get it at the Netgear site:
www.netgear.com
