Have just purchased a PS3, and tested it on HDMI TV at work. All fine and lovely, but on taking it home and plugging into standard TV, it appears to have stored the default outpt to HDMI so i can't get an output to scart.
How do i restore back to factory default without being able see the menu?!?!
Very easy solution. You know the button you tap to turn on the machine from the stand by mode (Red Light). This time when you tap it, do not let go, it will beep twice then go in to stand by mode again. Then boot up like normal and your video settings should be normal again.

I have the same problem - its a HDCP handshake issue. Sony says the firmware in the Westinghouse TV needs to be updated - Westinghouse says that they have firmware updates for some models depending on your TV's serial number, otherwise they are working on firmware updates for the rest of us that should fix the problem. Call Westinghouse to see if you can get updated.
Step 5 - Change from the current video cables to HDMI. (Your tv has different inputs. When you switch to HDMI in the PS3, you will have to switch your TV to the HDMI input that it is connected to, to get a picture)
Step 6 - Be quick, the PS3 will display a "test" for 30 seconds. You need to switch your tv to the correct HDMI input and press "X" on your controller to accept the change.
When you switch from one cable connection to another (Hdmi to AV etc) you need to reset the PS3 to its default settings. Basically what is happening is, your PS3 is set to HDMI, so when you plug in AV cables it doesn't know it. So you have to reset it. Hook your PS3 up to whatever cables (make sure system is fully off) then hold the front power button down for a few seconds.
Doing this will reset the display settings. You can then go into the XMB (main menu) and choose your connection. Although the PS3 should do this during the start up on its own.
Sorry to here about your problem. I have a 65HM167 Toshiba tv which is the same as your model, and I have my PS3 connected HDMI with no problems. Try using a different brand HDMI cable and a different HDMI input on the tv if you have not already done so. Hope this does it for you, good luck.
it sounds more to me like you have the video settings for your tv wrong, and the blu-ray is trying to play in a resolution that your tv doesnt support. Go into your HDMI settings again, and go through each of the "checked" resolutions, test each one by one selecting each and then pressing i believe x to test. If a picture is displayed right away, the resolution is supported, if the screen goes black...wait 30 sec or press circle and it will return you back to the settings screen. Unchack any that diddnt give you a picture right away when you tested..then save and try....
go back to your friends with your ps3 and change the tv settings on the ps3 back to scart output but also take your scart lead and have it plugged in at the same time. once you have selected scart output unplug the hdmi cable to make sure the settings are right. hope this helps you.
