hmmm....that interlock is dependent on a temperature sensor, to ensure that no one opens that door when it's too hot inside. I'm assuming that it's still locked, even after the temperature has dropped off?

Kitchenaid KGSS907 oven door locked while in self clean mode

It locks so you dont open it during the cleaning cycle. It gets very hot so it burns everything stuck fast to a crisp. after cycle is over and temp drops it will unlock. dont worry about a small amount of fire as long as it dosent get too big it should be fine. Might make alot of smoke though.

The oven door cannot open. The self cleaning cycle was not completed because the display window went blank and as a result the oven door remained locked. This occured during the Christmas season and...

Sounds like my problem two days ago. I have a Kitchen Aid free standing gas oven/range model
KGRI801PWH00. I read online that the thermo-fuse might've blown. I found the thermo-fuse after removing the rear panel. It was at the top/center. Mine is T-O-D (brand) 60F24; Westinghouse #8300802. I ordered mine from for only $34.75; arrived in 36 hrs with regular shipping!! Easy to fix, sure beats several hundred $$ to repairman.

Don't bother to call Kitchen Aid - they'll just blow you off just like the hundreds of complaints said that I found online.

Oven went dead in self clean mode and the door remains locked. Is this the thermostat? How do I get the door unlocked when control panel shut down? Kitchenaide KGRA806

Unplugged the stove and turn off the gas.Take the back off the oven and replace the thermostat. It's super easy. Before you buy the part call kitchen aid... this is a known problem. They will say the parts are not free and try to give you a discount. But if you continue to argue , they'll send it for free.

Door locked: display panel not lit.

Unplug the appliance and the next day it will work again. Do not use the self clean cycle or I will have to spank you! Did you not know that 900 degrees for 3 hours can harm delicate expensive electronics. Get some easy off and clean that oven or get ready to spend some serious dough on fixing this puppy down the line.

On most models, the door stays locked during a self clean, until the temperature returns to normal for safety reasons.

It sounds like your unit may have tripped a breaker during this self clean event. Check your panel for a tripped breaker. If the oven has cooled down, and the lock is still engaged, then we may have a different problem.

Let me know what you find out!
