Re: memory

You should first download this manual. i believe you need to remove the keyboard....which is fairly simple if you have a small screwdriver.

I tried to upgrade the memory from 1 GB to 2 GB, but after that the computer's screen won't turn on, and i can hear three long beeps and two short ones

The beeps indicate memory issue.

Acer Aspire One Notebook supports upto 1.5GB of memory, so if you try to install 2GB it will not work.

Size 1.0 GB / 1.5 GB (max)
Technology DDR2 SDRAM - 533.0 MHz
Form Factor SO DIMM 200-pin

The bios won't recoginze the memory upgrade? How

maybe the memory upgrade is not supported by the system.
  • check the specification of the computer first and verify if it can support the memory you put into your computer.
  • remove the new memory and put back the old memory, (try if it works now)
  • if it works with the old memory, then definitely, the problem is with the new memory. make sure that the memory is compatible with the system and it supports the capacity of the new memory you have in it.

I have a new SATA hard drive to put into a used Toshiba M115-S3094 and I upgraded the RAM with the correct parts. The problem is when I plug it in, the power light shows blue but when I press the button to...

You problem is your memory. Try putting up the old memory and i'm sure that it will work again.

Possible Solution 1.

If you just add-up the new memory, try removing the old memory and just use the new memory because they might not have the same brand, speed, or something else.

Possible Solution 2.

If you are using only the new memory, you might want to try the old memory only and if it boots up again, you might have compatibility problem on your newly bought memory.

Hope it helps.

Laptop memory

wrong type(brand) of memory some laptops are very fussy about what type of sodimm you put in them, I would put the 1 gig back in since it is more than the 766mb your getting with the new memory.

Woops - seem to have killed my laptop!

Right-click My Computer/Properties to see what memory is listed.
It's possible this memory is incompatible, but that would usually cause a no-boot situation.
Check the maker's specs to see what memory is suggested/approved.
I can't do this without the full model number.

Memory upgrade for Toshiba Satellite A100 - PSAA9A

this free cleaner called ccleaner is really good and gets your system cleaned up, free of any spyware and free updates.

But the memory problem is the fact that your notebook may only recognise 2 of the same size memory sticks, so take out the old memory and try the new in on it's own, if no boot at all then the memory is not compatable with your system.

You can go to the crucial web site and see what the tool finds as to the type of memory you can fit
