Why do I have to reset everytime I turn on my TomTom One??
Why can't I simply just turn it on? I have to push reset every time I turn it on. I even erase my route before turning off. Any suggestions? Is this normal??

Hallo! Try this: press reset +poiwer on for 20 secs, release reset but keep pressing power 20 secs, it should power the light on, very fast to connect to computer in this time, because it stais on 10 secs, open it like a map, backup ALL data in a new map, format the device, connect to TomTom Home, make the upgrades, copy the maps Maps and Voices back to your GPS.
Your TomTom may have to be reset. According to the manual:
To reset your ONE XL, use a straightened paper clip, or something similar, to
push the reset button. The reset button is next to the memory card slot on the
bottom of your ONE XL. Then turn your ONE XL on.
Remember, after a reset, your TomTom MAY take up to 20 seconds to start when using it for the first time.
hi
try a soft reset, first make sure your battery is full.
if you use a sd card, remove it. push reset button on bottomside of your tomtom, its in the middle next to "reset" push it with a small pin, paperclip or something, for at least 15 seconds. after that push on/off button for minimum 5 seconds. if used push back sd card.
good luck
If your TomTom GO/ONE/RIDER is frozen, won’t turn on or does not
behave as it should, it can be fixed by resetting or restarting your
TomTom device. A reset will not delete any data from your device, with the exception of SMS messages on TomTom GO500/700.
Connect
your GO/ONE/RIDER to the power charger. If you have a power charger,
use it to power your TomTom GO/ONE/RIDER. If you do not have a power
charger, make sure that the battery in your TomTom GO/ONE is fully
charged. Note: You need to charge your GO/ONE for at least 2 hours using the 12-24V cigarette lighter adapter.
Reset
your GO/ONE/RIDER. To reset the unit, you simply have to push a
straightened paper clip (or something similar) into the RESET hole on
the device.
On TomTom GO 910/710/510, the RESET hole is located on the bottom of the device.
On TomTom GO 700/500/300, the RESET hole is located on the bottom of the device with the word RESET right next to it.
On
TomTom ONE, the RESET hole is located on the bottom of the device, with
the word RESET right next to it (just below the SD card slot).
On
TomTom RIDER, the RESET hole is on the bottom of the device, behind the
SD card door. When opening the SD card door you will see the RESET hole
on the left, right underneath the SD card slot.
Your TomTom GO/ONE/RIDER is now reset. Finally, press and hold the power button for 2 seconds.
Which model is it ?
On the Go 300/500 series there's a reset in the base. You will need a thin pin or similar to reset.
Take out the map card then turn the unit on.Push the pin into the reset hole at the base.
You will then get the start screen and the maps will reload once you replace the memory card.
On the 7 series, simply hold the on button down for approx 15 seconds until the start screen begins to show.
You have the option of unchecking items you don't want installed and updated every time you connect to TomTom Home. Reset the entire unit and update again to fix the error
I had same problem. I called 866-4TOMTOM and was told that they would send a replacement. They were quite courteous. Be prepared to provide serial number that is on bottom of device.
I get the start up sound but just a blank screen. It I hit restart first it starts up fine.
I gave my BF one for Christmas & it has the same problem. Any help?
