Question about Alba DVD-108 DVD Player
Hey, I have an ALBA DVVD70 dvd player and lately the remote control has gone haywire. The functions dont work on it, almost every button comes up as a number on screen when it is pressed, bar a few that turn the volume down or freeze the picture. Any functions that it does do(as listed) are on completely the wrong keys and dont happen on the right keys. Any ideas??
The most likely cause is the remote itself.
To give them a soft feel, the contacts inside the remote are conductive rubber pressed on a printed contact on a small circuit board.
There are three possible problems:
1) The conductive rubber have become high resistant and has simply worn out, in which case the remote is best placed in your trash can, unless you want to paint each contact with silver conductive paint.
2) The contacts are tarnished or dirty. If you can carefully open the unit and clean everthing thoroughly you may get more life from it
3) It has become contaminated by liquid.
Babies love chewing em, as do dogs. Tea, coffee and beer always look for remotes to spill on too. If you think something like this may have happened, again you may be able to open it and clean everything.
Failing that, consider buying a one for all remote as a replacement. These can be programmed for specific equipment with a code.

In most cases the drive carage that sends the reader back and forth gets stuck, pop off the cover, about 4 screws, and lube the carrage rod/s,with vassoline or other, slide with hand, this should work in most cases
