Question about Panasonic PT-50LC13 50" Rear Projection HDTV

7 Answers

No main video

I get the SD card input, the split screen works on the right side of the TV with the audio from the channel selected on the left side; the left side is just the background [white screen]. I can swap channels back and forth with the PIP but no video on left side. With the SD card [camera card] I get a perfect picture in the middle of the screen. My thought is there is some switch not working when it senses the input. I'm not sure if it is on the tuner CB or somewhere else. When we got the TV, the bulb was burned out. Replaced the bulb I get the symptoms above. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,

I do get the pip and since I wrote this, I hooked up my video camera to the different inputs on the tv, the screen display showed video 1, etc. So, they are being sensed. I can get a window on the right half that will cycle through all the channels and show a thumbnail of each.

I don't have any boards and I haven't removed the back of the TV, yet. I don't see, via schematic, any relays on the rear jack CB.

I haven't tried a monitor (RGB IN) input, yet.

On the Main CB, it shows IC5005, main VSP being fed by IC5009, Sub VSP; this is where the pip comes from therefore, I figured it is prior to the main VSP; is there a chance it could be the A/V SW IC3602 or IC 3501? I don't think it is the Tuner CB since I get the video perfect in the pip mode.

I only add this because I interpret you reply as a pip problem.

    Thanks,

    RBailey3711

    Hi,

I can tell I didn't provide enough information initially.

The TV will only display a picture when in the PIP mode; the picture is on the right side of the screen. The TV only shows the channel number or input when I switch it on the remote. I can change channels and I get audio from all of my cable channels, just no video. When I switch to pip and swap, which ever channel I'm on will show up on the right side of the screen and the one I swapped with will have only the audio; the channel number will be displayed in the upper right corner.

I only included the information about the card input because that will display. Our original problem, I thought, was just a burned out bulb.

    Thanks,

    Rbailey3711

    Hi again,

I don't have the correct remote; I can't do a split screen with the remote I have.

I am able to move the pip around the display and get the picture the whole time. Still have audio in the background from the channel selected for the main screen, as shown on pg. 38 of manual.

    Thanks again.

I ordered the correct remote; I can use split screen or pip and I only can see video on the right half in split screen and in the pip box, no matter where I place it on the display.

I get perfect audio, the SD card functions works; the component connections will sense an input but won't display a picture [I used my video camera with the RCA connector cable and an s-video cable, neither had a picture only sound].

I looked in the troubleshooting section, I still only get "good" sound and no picture in normal mode. I adjusted the picture setting using the "ASPECT" button, no change. (pg. 42)

I get a very good picture on the right half of the screen in split screen mode; no picture, just audio on the left half. (pg. 38)

I get a good picture in the PIP screen and I can switch it around the screen and see it in each of the four corners. (pg. 41)

    Hi Maklean,

I just used a DVD and the S-Video cable, no video or sound.

I goofed up on the Feb. 26th comment, I didn't get video or sound using the "Video" inputs. The Video1 or Video2, in the upper right corner displayed, when I plugged the RCA or S-Video cable in to that particular input; again, no video or audio signal on the display/screen.

    Hi again,

I just went through the schematic of the video signal, I don't think it is the Rear Jack CBA; if it were, I wouldn't get any video; the input switching is being detected, based on whether or not I plug in the DVD to Video 1, 2, or 3, inputs.

    Hi again,

I already purchased the service manual.

I was just looking at the factory adjustments procedure (pg.10); I've got video and sound, just not on a normal screen setting.

I just finished the reset of memory (pg. 13), It did the auto channel setup and when I tune to a channel that isn't available, I get a blue background/screen. I can go to any of the programmed channels and I still just get audio.

    Hi again,

I'm looking at the functional block diagram (pg. 56) and the video and audio signals come through the Rear Jack CBA to the Main CBA main and sub video signal processors and audio amps. It appears those have to be working because the PIP, Search 9 (assuming this is the channel search/display function) and Split Screen are working along with the SD card.

Is there a possibility it still could be IC3602 on the Rear Jack CBA? Since it appears to be a "main" video problem.

The folowing link contains additional info https://www.manualsparadise.com/ShowProd...
[1] Service (repair) manual: Depending on the type of product, it includes schematic and block diagrams, printed wiring boards, waveforms, parameters and IC pin descriptions, parts list, drawings and schematics of mechanisms. Please note that a service manual includes schematics, unless the product description mentions the opposite. Also please note that in some cases we also offer just the schematics as a separate product at a lower price, but that doesn't mean the service manual doesn't include them.

[2] Supplement for service (repair) manual
Contains information that supplements that of the service manual (which is not included), but wasn't included when the service manual was created. It is intended to be used together with the service manual, not by itself. It usually contains from 1-6 pages.

Does the TV work normally when you are not trying to use a split screen? Assuming it does, the problem may actually be a "feature" that is working as designed. According to the notes on Page 38 of the operators manual, "Card input screen cannot be displayed using the Split Screen function."

It deffinitely sound slike it is a relay or transistor that is either burned out, short circuited, or not working. if you have a ny replacement parts, and feel daring enough, try replacing on of the boards that controls the PIP

  • rbailey3711 Feb 29, 2008

I'm not sure you read everything, I've already had this suggestion and I have the operators manual.

  • rbailey3711 Mar 04, 2008

    Hi again,

I'm not sure what you wanted me to check in the Operators Manual. But, I went back through the setup processes and:
    1. Page 34, search function, example 1; The screen display has no picture in the left panel for a programmed channel; for a non-programmed channel, it is the blue background.
    2. Page 38, split screen, there is no picture in the left side panel but, there is audio.

Again, in the normal picture mode for a programmed channel, there is audio but no picture. If it is a non-programmed/not available, it is the blue background.

    Thanks again,

    Rick

Could it possibly be either IC3501 or IC3602 on the Rear Jack C.B.A.?

Does the TV work normally when you are not trying to use a split screen? Assuming it does, the problem may actually be a "feature" that is working as designed. According to the notes on Page 38 of the operators manual, "Card input screen cannot be displayed using the Split Screen function."

Take out the comb filter and replace the surface mount electrolytic capacitors (I think there were around 4 of them) on the comb filter and put it back in the motherboard. MCM sells a kit If I'm not mistaken with capacitors that fix this problem as well as the picture in picture problem which these same sets have.

Pull each crt separately, drain fluid, dis-assemble, clean, reassemble, refill with fresh crt fluid then re-install. After doing his, completely re-converge the unit from scratch. To accomplish this, buy a template from Magnavox to put over the screen. Reconvergence instructions are provided with the template

- INPUT SELECT button- Press to select
TV or the external input (VIDEO1,
VIDEO2) mode.
(See USING AUDIO/VIDEO INPUT JACKS.

- AUDIO (INPUT) L/R jacks- Connect to
the left/right channel audio output jacks of
a video camera or VCR.
Note: The AUDIO (INPUT)L jack is for
mono input. The sound is heard from both
speakers. Use this jack for monaural audio
equipment to be hooked up.

These steps is in page 2 of the manual. Hope it helps.

Yamaha rx-v2500 receiver how to hook up speakers

HI,

Follow these steps to connect a powered sub woofer to your receiver: You typically have two options when connecting a powered sub woofer. Input (1) on the rear of the sub woofer would be used when connecting the sub woofer to the receiver using speaker wires. You would then connect the main speakers to the opposite end, or output or the sub woofer to the main speakers. Option (2) would be using RCA line level output jacks, input (2) on the rear panel of the sub woofer directly to the single sub woofer output on the back of an AV receiver. blank.gif

How to setup picture in picture function on my tv. panasonic viera 42-px600u

This is controlled by the Split and Swap buttons on the remote; the size of the second picture can be adjusted with the Aspect button. First press split and use the Input button to select the source of the right picture of the split screen (TV channel or video inputs). Then press Swap and use the input button to select the source of the second screen. Swap again if desired or press Aspect to change the size of the main screen window. However, it is not available if you are using the HDMI, PC and SD Card viewing mode. Since the TV doesn't have dual digital tuners, you can't watch two different digital channels on the split screen.

The manual for the Panasonic TH-42PX600U is available from from Panasonic here: http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Televisions/Plasma-HDTVs/model.TH-42PX600U . See page 18 of the manual, page 10 of the PDF.

I hope this helps.

configure ur PC (both OS audio and third party sound driver) for surround sounds. control panel- sounds and audio devices - speaker settings - advanced - speker settings. so this done. make sure u select the 6 input channel - the button is on the right edge near the volume knob. near the vol button there are two buttons for selecting input type with up down arrow. from that u can select the input type this will be indicated on the top front indicator. but with the 6 input channel selected all selections are preceeded. if u select stereo mode u will have left/ right audio only.
make sure u connect the input right. connect from computer to 6 channel input. main, surround, center and sub-woofer.  connect the spekers to main (L/R), rear(surround) (L/R), center and sub woofer to terminal marked sub woofer ouput. this done select like i said before the 6 channel button. that should do it.

I have dynex flat screen hdtv, need to hook up jvc dual dvd-vcr recorder to it need direction pls have no knowledge of hooking up this diagram would also be great

  • find the video input 1 in the back of the tv (this video connector yellow + audio red **audio right channel and white left channel) is known as female RCA conector)
  • get a set of rca wires **known as male RCA*** (yellow red and white)
  • find the RCA female conectors Yellow red and white in the DVD call it video (and audio) output
Connect sets accordingly the TV video input yellow conector with video output yellow with the set of wires RCA yellow. Do the same with audio.

  1. second part of this talking is to find and cable splitter (usually three output and one input
  2. find TWO coax cables (this cable is usually a black wire with a connector each side this fits perfectly in the antena input of the tv)
Now connect your cable into the splitter (input) and your two cables in each output, then send one of them into the TV antena conector and another to the DVD coax input.

To watch your TV only select any regualr channel as you do it.
And to record and actually see Your DVD/tape and what you record also. You have to select in your remote control the video 1

ones you get custome to this configuration you can record a channel and at the ssame time watch any second channel selected in the tv.

I hope was clear.

Have a Sanyo DP42828(42"). My Satellite is working after the card resetting itself. But which 3 holes do I hook the (RED, YELLOW, and WHITE) for the dvd player?

dems,

Are you reffering to your DVD player to be conected to with your TV screen?

For DVD player connection the 3 colored RCA jack socket are:

YELLOW = video out
RED and WHITE = Audio out (left and right channels)

to hook up to your screen, at the back of the screen or side of it you'll see RCA socket indicating "AV1" "AV2" AV3" this are all Audio/video inputs where you can hook up all you A/V device or game consoles. These inputs also have the same 3 colored socket (yello = video red/white = audio)
connect your DVD player to any of this input following the same color code. After connecting the cable, select the input where you hook up your dvd player. Do this by pressing "A/V" buttons in remote commander of your TV. continously press this button until it reaches the exact location where you plug your player ex. AV1, AV2,AV3

note: in some cases the remote commander doesn't indicate this A/V button but a picture of a box having a arrow pointing inside the box.

cheers,
mark
