Batteries go dead after only a few days

Yes the can go bad.
I still have 9 year old Kodak lithium batteries in good condition, nut I know sometimes my rechargeable batteries last no longer then a year. It is a shame that some camera brands only give a 90 day warranty on the batteries.
To keep your rechargeable batteries in a good condition, give them a charge at least every 3 months. Or always a day before you need the camera. Never try to use speed chargers. I still have a charger capable of charging full within 15 minutes. The barrettes are hot, and when charged that way after 10 or 20 times they are dead.
Just use the charger that came with your camera.
But if you only can shoot a few shote with your battery, buy a new battery.

batteries fail over time and should be replaced even rechargeable batteries
never change just one battery as it will discharge into the flat battery
keep the batteries full charged at all times and remove them from the camera when not in use

if you are using "AA" size, do NOT use typical alkalines in your camera, they die too fast. Buy rechargable NiMH batteries and a charger at Walmart or somewhere. These will hold a charge longer for you. Also be sure to turn off teh camera when not shooting because the camera is always draining battery life when "on."

I had the same problem. I had a 1 year warranty, so I called 1800-435-7732 and they sent me a new battery within 5 days. I just received it today and it works perfectly. Hope this helps you! =]

If your camera gives you "card locked" error messages with several cards and you KNOW that the cards are indeed not locked via the sliding lock mechanism, then your camera needs to be sent in for service as it has developed and electrical communications problem within the memory card control function.

I would first however try a hard reset by resetting your camera to the default settings, removing the battery and memory card for two minutes, and then replacing them. Retest the cards for the error message. If it still occurs then call 1-800-828-8080 for your options.

It's something with the camera. I have the same camera and the same problem. I bought 2 brand new batteries, charged them, and the very first thing the camera did when I installed the new batteries was tell me that they were dead!! Grrr....

As a workaround, when it tells you the battery is dead, just open the battery door, close it, and try again. Repeat if necessary. With my camera, doing this lets me use the same battery for days and days. The battery is NOT dead - it's just a faulty warning message.

Hello; Same as tbeartusk on my coolpix L3 Nikon
Batts exhausted within 30 Min. and screen says Batteries "exhausted"

Get it serviced to find out if it is repairable or only insert battery to use then remove when not in use
