Hunged-up iPod Ok. I was about to charge my iPod and put some songs to it. When I plugged my iPod it charged. Then when I opened the iTunes, it read the iPod. I haven't done anything. I was just updating my iTunes, because the iTunes I got was just downloaded. So then, it suddenly unread the iPod, so I safely removed the iPod then it hunged. The "Do Not Disconnect" screen is on. I tried restart but it didn't helped. I can't turn off my iPod.

Install iTunes
Before you connect your iPod shuffle to your Mac or PC computer or use it, you must install the latest iTunes software.
2. Connect and Set Up your iPod shuffle Charge your battery by connecting it to an Apple iPod Power Adapter or connect your iPod to a high-power USB port —one that's located directly on your computer—to ensure that your computer charges your iPod battery. (If your computer doesn't seem to recognize your connected iPod , wait about 30 minutes to allow the iPod battery to charge before going further.)
3. Fill your iPod shuffle and iTunes with Music Once you finish the set up, iTunes will open. It will then either:
  • Automatically start filling your iPod with music from your iTunes library (if you set iTunes to automatically update your iPod)
  • Allow you to pick and choose what music, audiobooks, and podcasts to add, if you opted to manually manage music on your iPod.
To manually add content, simply drag any file from your iTunes library or playlist to your iPod icon in the iTunes Source list. If you're using iTunes for the very first time, you'll need to add some music to iTunes first, such as songs from your own CDs or music already on your hard drive.
4. Disconnect your iPod shuffle Once you've got your music, audiobooks, and other files on your iPod, you're ready to enjoy it.
  • If you see an “OK to Disconnect” message on your iPod, simply disconnect it from your computer.
  • If you see a “Do Not Disconnect” message, click the eject icon that appears next to your iPod icon in the iTunes Source list and then disconnect your iPod from your computer when you see the “OK to Disconnect” message.
  • Disconnecting my iPod shuffle
5. Play your iPod shuffle Now you’re ready to enjoy your iPod.

How to add songs to Ipod

This is a tip explaining exactly how to add songs to your Ipod.

Firstly, you need to have Itunes installed on your computer. You can download Itunes for free from the following Website. It is always best to use the most updated version of this software.

Once you have downloaded Itunes, and installed it, we can continue.

Ok, if you already have MP3 files on your computer, and just want to add this songs to your Ipod, we first need to import all these files to Itunes. Here is how we do this.

To import songs in MP3 format which is already on your computer:

  • Open the Itunes software you installed.
  • From the iTunes File Menu click "Add to Library".
  • Now you need to browse to the folder where the music is located and select it.
  • The files will now automatically be imported to Itunes.
After the installation of Itunes, you need to plug you Ipod into your computer USB port using the connector cable which came with your ipod.
This is the how the USB port on your computer looks like.

This is what the connector cable looks like.

When you have plugged in your Ipod to the computer, Itunes will automatically open.

Now you will be able to see your Music Library(On the left), as well as your Ipod(On the right)

Al you need to do now is to drag the songs you want to copy to your Ipod into the ipod window on the right.

Charge your ipod after you have copied the songs, and start listening.

Kind regards

Restore factory settings, if the buttons dont work. This will clear your ipod of all songs.

To revert your ipod to factory settings, go to preferences in itunes. Then go to your device and look for restore factory settings

Hunged-up iPod

Usually, unplugging, replugging it and then rebooting solves the problem.

your other options are a driver issue..either with the ipod drivers, itunes, or the USB drivers for your computer itself. since your ipod video and psp work fine, you can rule out USB drivers, but that doesn't rule out additional driver problems.

the other option is there's some kind of failure with your ipod..and sometimes if a device starts drawing power before doing any kind of communication with the computer (like when my rockbox-hacked ipod goes into charge only mode) then windows will assume there's a hardwire issue. the best way to determine if it's an issue with your ipods are take them to another computer and see if they work. if they work fine...try uninstalling and reinstalling itunes (back up your music and database) and see if that solves the problem. if none of that solves it and you know the ipod shuffles are good..then your system has suffered from the mysterious driver failure that's plagued a lot of systems. and generally the only real solution is to reinstall windows from scratch.

Ipod not charging

Try opening iTunes to see if it recognizes anything first. More importantly set it to disk mode on the main iPod options screen. Remove any songs from the iPod through disk mode into a new folder, (you wont be able to tell as Apple renames and rearranges everything, but you id3 tags should still be recognized when you import after your iPod is fized)Restore your iPod with iTunes. Those are the steps I'd take first. If that works, just re-import those songs into the iTunes library then over to you iPod
