Non-Garmin GPSr Hi Guys I'm trying to use my Palm E2 + non-Garmin BT GPSr for navigation. I've installed Garmin Que software to my palm E2 but it does not work with my BT GPRs. I understand GPSproxy or GPSgate software can help interface both but only waorks for WM or PPC not for Palm OS. Do you guys have any solutions to this. Thanks

Re: Non-Garmin GPSr

Garmin software will only work with Garmin hardware. Garmin does not use the standard NEMA protocol for GPS output, but their own. Also their software is tied to their hardware by a unit id, which require an unlock code in order for the maps to function.

Where do i go to down load update for my gps 295. garmin said thay dont support this unit. thanks joe

The Garmin "GPSMap 295" is at, as far as Garmin is concerned anyway, "end of life". This means Garmin will no longer support, repair, etc. this product. C'est la vie.

Garmin's older product lines lack the hardware to decompress the new "NT" (New Technology) maps that Navtek (the map company) is producing now. The NT maps are compressed so that they would fit on smaller capacity memory cards. By doing this, the maps required Garmin to include hardware (special designed circuitry) that could quickly decompress these maps "on the fly" for display. The much of Garmin's older GPSMap & StreetPilot lines predate this hardware requirement.

Our "still-functioning" GPSMap & StreetPilot GPSr will still pinpoint our location on the Earth as always - but lack the latest & greatest maps. You should review the maps that your GPSr can use and choose the one you prefer. I switched mine to display topographical maps. These show many of the road names like the City Navigator maps do, but lack important things like the POIs and routing. If you can do without them, this could be good enough. If you can't, you'll need to decide on whether the last non-NT map version is sufficient or purchase a new GPS that can accept the maps you want to put into it.

I hope this helps and good luck!

Is there a way to use ique 3600 with windows 7? ique does not syc.

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 and the iQue did not work. There is no USB driver and as far as I know there isn't going to be one. However, I did get it working by installing Windows XP mode and the Windows Virtual Machine on my XP system. You need to check if your computer can run XP mode and there are Microsoft tools to do that. After you get XP mode installed and running, there will be a virtual XP window on your desktop. Plug the iQue in its cradle and plug it in to the USB port. Use your iQue setup CD to install the Palm desktop in XP as you normally would. At some point, you have to tell XP to attach your iQue to the USB port. Near the XP title bar, there is a USB pull-down menu. Use this to attach the device. It will ask for a driver. Just say to use the Garmin-supplied driver. Wait until this finishes successfully. Before trying a sync, open the Palm desktop and go to Hotsync/custom and change everything you can to "handheld overwrites desktop" and save this. Push the hotsync button on the cradle. If it doesn't connect, go to the USB pull-down and click attach. It should work!

Garmin Novi 360 bluetooth issues

Try choosing "other" from the types of phones listed when pairing. In the list of "other" phones that appears, choose "extended character set". That worked for my Palm Centro.

Garmin has no power.

The first thing to do is make sure it is charged and the charger is working. Make sure you have green light on the ON button.

If it is on, but only displays the Palm logo, and you can't turn it off, it is likely that you need to do either a soft or hard reboot. These are described on page 1.6 of the manual, which can be downloaded from the Garmin site. If you don't have the manual:

Soft Reset-unscrew the blunt end of the stylus and insert the skiiny tip into the reset hold at the botttom left of the rear of the unit.

If this doesn't work, do a hard reset by pressing the soft reset buttom and then immediately holding the On button down until the Palm Logo comes up. I've only had to do this once in all the years I've had the unit. You need to resync to get the voice navigation and other features to work.

Sync problems with windows vista

I got a Vista computer in April and have problems also. You need a special program to install the maps. email Garmin and they will send you the link. An SD card reader/writer is MUCH faster than the sync.

I didn't have syncing problems until after I tried to install Documents to Go. I had to remove Doc to Go v6 because it was making my computer unstable. Doc to GO V10 works with Vista but requires Palm OS6. Garmin says that Palm OS6 can't be installed on the Garmin iQue because they added proprietary software to OS4. I believe my sync problems will disappear after I reload the Palm Software.

Why will my Garmin not sync into my computer?

First, right click the hotsync button in the task bar and make sure "USB" is selected (assuming you're using USB...).
If that doesn't work, let me know.

Garmin IQUE 3600 unable to HotSync, Windows XP

I think I have solved this problem.

Try this:

Go to my computer, right click -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager.

Locate your IQUE 3600, or Palm.

Now, if your palm has a Yellow Exclamation mark on it, that means that your computer is not recognizing the Palm. Select
Driver details. Re-install the driver off the "Setup CD" that came with your IQUE 3600.

This worked for me.

Good luck!
