For over a year I used this device to send video to my PC using Windows Moviemaker. It worked great. I then switched to iMAC but iMovie took 38 minutes to process a 2 hour video file, far too long. I am using Parallels and can't get the iMAC to recognize the Canopus through Parallels Windows side (I want to try Windows Moviemaker again). In fact, now I can't get the iMAC to recognize the Canopus at all, through Finder or Parallels Windows Explorer. I hope you can help!

Do you have iMovie? On mine, with any camcorder I've had, when I have iMovie running and plug the camcorder in it automatically changes to the Record mode. Click on the forward button and it will start the camcorder. Press the Record button when you get to the part you want to record. You can then edit the beginning or end of the section to use the portion(s) you want. The software controls the camcorder to go frontwards or backwards. Works very slick. Not sure what to suggest if you don't use iMovie.

In the latest version of imovie (i.e. imovie 09) import it into then click on the import. When you select the clip you will have at the bottom left hand side of the small clip an small gear shape icon click on this and then you can chose "cropping and rotation" and then you can rotate the clip. Hope this helps

I don't know how to make a youtube video.

1- Make a movie using a digital camera, web cam, or cell phone. An old VHS will only work if you transfer it to a digital file—you’ll need a digital converter to plug an older camcorder into the computer. You can upload a YouTube movie directly from a phone if you set up a Mobile Profile in YouTube. With a high speed connection, it should generally take a few minutes, give or take.
2- Edit your movie. Programs such as Mac’s iMovie or Windows’ MovieMaker are both good—add titles, effects, cut out a bad take, etc.
3- Resize the video so it looks best in YouTube. The site accepts QuickTime .MOV, Windows .AVI, or .MPG files at 340x240 resolution. There’s a 100MB size and 10 minute length limit.
4- Create a YouTube account. Click on Upload Videos in the upper right corner of the home page.
5- Create a title, description, tags, category, and set language. The more information the better to help people find the video.

Need assistance transferring video to imac

The Panasonic PV-GS12 will transfer video in video record mode and video playback mode using the DV connection (IEEE) Firewire port. PC Mode is restricted to memory card access via USB. If after connecting it in this manner if it does not work try this. With everything connected via firewire and iMovie running. switch the camera to PC mode and the import window should pop up. You may get a comunications error and if you do then switch to playback mode. The import window should stay open and you can control your camera with the iMovie controls.

Cannot edit the video files on PC or Mac

sony and mac do not play nice together! the video was recorded in mpeg 2 and mac likes to see a different file format-sony will work with 08 versions of imovie-try to use moviemaker-free in your menus- in Vista if possible-try to stream disc from camcorder to computer using usb on camcorder-stick w/windows if at all possible-use a pinnicale converter box to convert av output from camcorder to usb-about 50-100.00.
