Hi i need some help when my son puts on his psp to play a game the characters to the game start walking by themselves you can take control of them but they still do not move correctly its like they are fighting against your movements help how can i stop this from happening
Hey, looks like your PSP may have one of these two problems. There are 2 screws on the backside of the PSP System on the side of the analog stick. If either of the screw is loose then the analog stick will move by itself. Second problem is the Analog Stick itself has been damaged. You can replace these very easily if you are good with tools and electronics.
The above solution is correct....try squeezing the psp together near the analogue stick and the curser or player should stop moving.....if you find case is cracked or screw hole broken then get a new face plate, thats what i did, cheapest place is dealextreme.com......under £3 for a transparent faceplate with free delivery anywhere in the world and they also sellthe analogue stick component for £1.75.......bargains....i ordered 3 of each....
My anlog on my psp moves by it self and i don't know how to stop it sometimes i have to hit my psp before it stops one of my friends told me that maybe on of my back screws are lose or the screw under is loose.

This is most likely a problem with the PSP itself, you might have to take it back and exchange it for a working one. Before you do take it back, try going at it with can of compressed air. Make sure you clean the eye of the UMD reader but don't actually touch it!
If it still doesn't work, you will need to take it back. I would take it back soon (today) so you don't lose your store warranty (if you have one).
If this is only happening in games, it's a problem with the joystick assembly. It's pretty common on the PSP for this part to wear out and characters [or menu options in games] will start scrolling by themselves. Replacing the part will fix the PSP up. Check the following website out -- they sell the joystick and perform replacement repairs:
well first it's important to know what it was washed in, when in the game slowly push the thumbstick slightly to the right if you can get the character to remain still or the same as it would normally its probably got something sticky between the thumbstick and controller, but that's an easy fix. Take a toothpick or safety pin and gently try to clear out any forigen debris, holding the thumbstick straight up and down.(try with d-pad also) if that's not it it may have been washed too hard.
Hello, can you please explain in more detail about what is happening? Maybe if you were playing a lot of PSP, your keys might be jammed up in the circuit boards and when you play a game, some things are kind of pushing it to move the character.
Second question, in the main menu, is anything moving by itself?
I think there might be a problem with your configuration, remove all plugin then try to restore to default setting on setting menu. and/or if your psp installed Custom firmware, the umd speed are set to fast. do this via recovery menu (hold R trigger while turn on psp). you may need to fix L button if it is stuck. you may consoder sending it back to Sony for repair. You can call SONY support at 1-800-345-7669. hope this helps.
