How to put my extension back into to system at greeting time

When people phone and the system asks to type the first 3 letters of the persons first name, my name can't be found. I also can't get to my voice mail because of this. When I dial 190 it goes right to the mainline greeting rather than my voicemail. Can anybody shed any light into this matter?

Thanks Mike.

I'm having the same problem... does anyone have an idea of how to solve this or know where I can download the system manager reference guide for my NEC ElectraElite?

If you have an in-skin EliteMail VM, when you get into your mailbox go to the Setup Options. You should be able to change your "spelled" name, typically the first three letters.

If you change recordings on a voice mail box that does not change the settings for the mail box location. There will be a section to enter the name of the mail box owner (not a recording) and that is used for the directory.

I am not familiar with NEC voice mail systems but typically you can have different voice mails and different versions of phone system that all program differently. You should have an "administrator" guide for your voice mail so someone can make changes like this. I have no way of helping you find this and it will depend on your voice mail NOT the model number of your phone which can be used with different systems and voice mails that all program differently.

You didn't say what type & kind of phone you have (iphone or android) or phone service you have (they all do them slightly different). If you dial your own phone number into your cell phone, that should access your voice mail. I have a Sprint Android, so
  1. Press 3 for Personal Options
  2. Press 2 for Greetings
  3. Press 1 to Change Greeting
  4. Press 1 to Record personal greeting or press 2 to select the standard greeting
  5. Press # to End Recording
  6. Press 1 to Confirm Greeting

This is from the attendant user guide. Don't ask me what a Conference Bridge Extension is though.

To recording your greeting:
1. Set the Supervisor Password, if necessary.
2. Call a Conference Bridge extension.
3. When the Conference Bridge extension answers, dial the
Supervisor Password and #.

4. Press * to skip the setting verification mode.
5. Press # to change the system settings.
6. Skip the steps until the Customized Greeting option is played.
7. Follow the voice prompt and record a new Customized Greeting.

Redirecting calls

You will require the folks that program your Nortel system to come and make system level changes.
You will need to ask them to give you the ability to put the system into day service, which will allow calls to come to your extension.
Then switch the system into night service during the times that you are not available. This is done by dial a code which changes the path that calls go to. You will also need them to program the greeting for open, and closed. or Day/night service.

I recently bought a dect 6.0 digital answering system, and a friend put the first message on for me,then lost the manual, and now I can't figure out how to record a new message.Help!

Recording a Personal Greeting
Your answering system comes with a pre-recorded outgoing message or greeting that plays when you receive a call: “Hello, no one is available to take your call. Please leave a message after the tone.”
You can record your own personal outgoing greeting. Your recorded greeting must be between two seconds and thirty seconds long.

  1. Press /mute. The system announces the number of new and old messages, then starts to play themessages unless it has no messages.
  2. Press 5 to stop the announcements or message playback. You will hear intermittent beeps indicating that thesystem is in the command waiting mode.
  3. Press 8 to start the recording. The system announces, “Record greeting.” Begin recording after the announcement.
  4. When you finish recording, press 8 again or press 5. You will hear a confirmation tone, and your recordedgreeting plays back for you.
Selecting a Greeting
Once you have recorded a personal greeting, the phone automatically switches to your personal greeting. You can also switch back and forth between the pre-recorded greeting and your own greeting at any time.

  1. Press the Message icon (letter)/mute. The system announces the number of new and old messages, then starts to play the messages unless it has no messages.
  2. Press 5 to stop the announcements or message playback. You will hear intermittent beeps indicating that the system is in the command waiting mode.
  3. Press 6. The system plays the current greeting.

NEC D term 80

depends on the system but it should be done in the voicemail. If the names are recorded in than you have to find the mailbox used. If it says please enter the first 3 letters of the persons last name than it is a default mailbox and the names are set in each subscribers mailbox. They have to go into personal options and change the name and letters.
