The LCD display on the camera just displays white, when the camera is turned on. When the view changes you can see a change in the white as though the white is just a blanket over the images, but nothing else is seen, what could be the problem?

Try this, in your manual at the bottom of pg. 229 that says, "If you turn off the power while the 'shooting settings display' screen is displayed, the same screen will be displayed when you turn on the power again. To avoid this, press the <INFO> button to turn off the display on the LCD monitor, then turn off the power switch."
The converse also applies. Get into the shooting settings display with the INFO button and power down. The display will come on when you power up again.
It also solved my problem of getting the mode selection button selections to show on the LCD when needed.
try hooking it up to your PC and using the REMOTE FEATURE, see if you can change the whiteness lvls from there or see anything on you pc, if you can then your lcd screen is shot and might need to be replaced or checked at your local service place.
I'm not sure if you are talking about the quick view of a picture just taken, or using playback mode to view shots taken. Either way, I suggest changing batteries so they are fresh.
There are 3 different LCD choices when in "Shooting Mode."
The display mode will change each time you press this button.
1- Standard (no info displayed, just pic)
2- Detailed (infor displayed)
If you have tried this, then you may want to perform a reset to the cam. This will reset any screen/LCD settings that may have been changed.
Goto the Setup Menu and select "Reset All." Select "OK" and press "Func. Set."
This reset WILL NOT reset the following:
-Current Shooting Mode
-Date/Time, Language, & Video System settings
-White Balance Data (of you have custom settings changed in the custom white calance function)
Sounds like your camera was dropped and the LCD was damaged. The white screen you see is typical for a defective LCD screen. The only way to repair the camera is to replace the bad part with a known good one.
One solution would be to buy a defective camera online that has a good LCD screen and swap them out.
Good Day, LCD display is defective, pls contact nearest service center, no longer user serviceable, still u can use it using optical viewfinder, but you can no longer change settings, cause infos are displayed on the LCD screen. Thanks
