Try pulling the power plug and leaving it unplugedd for an hour. This will allow all internal components to cool down and de-energize somewhat. Plug it back in and try again. If no luck take the receiver to another portion of the home and plug it in there. Try powering it down and see if you are sucessful. If so you have an electrical issue if not a bad receiver.

I need to reprogram my dishnetwork remote control

Hello, this is Cheri Torres with DISH Network customer service. I came across your issue and wanted to see if i could help you resolve this. If you remote is not controlling your receiver functions such as changing DISH channels, bringing up the program guide, and bringing up your DISH menus you will need to get your remote readdressed to your receiver. There are a few different steps for addressing your DISH Network remote to your receiver box and I will list them here for you. I hope you find these instructions useful in resolving this issue.:) If you have any further questions or concerns feel free to post back here or you can email me at [email protected].

Steps for addressing your remote to your DISH Network receiver box.

  1. Go to System Info scree. In order to get into your system info screen you can either press the system info button on the front of the DISH receiver box, or you can press the power button once and then the up arrow button once on the front of the receiver box. If both of these options are not working you can also open the little door on the left side of your DISH box and pull out your smart card. You do no need to reinsert your smart card until you have addressed your remote completely.
  2. Once you are in the system info screen you should see primary remote address (TV1) and secondary remote address (TV2).
  3. Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
  4. Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.(Make sure to change the remote address to a different number then what is listed in the white box).
  5. Press the pound (#) button
  6. Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record three times. Note: If successful the number selected in step 3 will appear in the System Info screen under Remote Address.

We purchaed a new LCD tv and now our Dish Network receiver does not work with the remote. The Ttv works fine with te remote but not the receiver.

Hello Haley_cb, this is Cheri Torres with DISH Network customer service. I came across your post and wanted to see if I could be of some assistance. There are a few steps you can walk through to get your DISH remote addressed to your receiver again. First you want to make sure you DISH remote is in SAT mode, you can insure this by pressing the SAT button at the top left of your remote. If you have insured this, here are some instructions on how to address your DISH remote to your receiver again. If you have any further questions or concerns feel free to post back here or you can also email me at [email protected].

  1. Go to System Info scree. You can do this by pressing the system info button on the front of your DISH Network receiver box. Another way to get into the system info screen is by pressing the power button once and then the up arrow button once on the front of your receiver. If both options do not work you can try opening the smart card door on the left side of the receiver and pulling out the smart card.
  2. Once you are in the system info screen, hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
  3. Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
  4. Press the pound (#) button
  5. Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record. Note: If successful the number selected in step 3 will appear in the System Info screen under Remote Address.

Satellite button lights up but cannot change channel

Hey there, this is Cheri Torres with DISH Network customerservice. I was reading your question and wanted to give you some instructionsto help you get this issue resolved. First, what we will need to do is get intothe system information screen in your menus. Depending on the kind of receiverthat you have there are a few ways you can do this. The easiest way, is to pushthe system info button on the front of you DISH Network receiver box. If you donot have the system info button on your receiver you can press the power buttononce and then the up arrow button once on the front of the DISH Networkreceiver box. If both of these options are not working the last option to tryis opening the smart card door on the front left side of the DISH box and pullingout the smart card. Once you are in the system info screen you will look at thebottom of the screen where there should be primary remote address and secondaryremote address listed. If you are working on TV1 you will look for the primarynumber, if you are working with TV2 you will be looking for secondary number. Now that you have the number for the remote you are having an issue with youare going to try to change that number to something different. The way to dothis is by pressing and holding down your SAT button until all of the modelights at the top of the remote light up. Once that happens release the satbutton and press any number 1-15 on the remote, then press the # button onceand release, then the record button three times. You should notice the remoteaddress will change to whichever number you selected. Once you see this changepress your select button and try your remote functions to see if it worked. Ihope this information helps you with this issue. If you have any furtherquestions or concerns feel free to post back here. :)

My dish 811 receiver won't download guide info. Do I need to reset and how?

Pull the smart card out of the unit and turn the unit off. then turn it back on and replace the card. this should reset the unit. It will take a minut or so for the unit to read the card and aquire a sat signal. If this does not work, simply call Dish network and they can walk you through any other options.

Strange problem with a Dish 2800 receiver: during the daytime, it works fine. Starting about 5:00 or 6:00 PM, it starts responding poorly to the remote. That remote works fine on other receivers in the...

Hey there! This is Becki Barned, with Dish Network customer service! The problem that you may be having is with interference with the remote. Depending on how much light is shining directly on the receiver, such from a lamp in the evening, or the sunset, this can interfere with the remote responding to the receiver. If you have glass in front of your receiver, that can cause it too. Try to remove all objects or lights from the front of the receiver, and it should work fine!

Since our neighbors got DishNetwork our second TV randomly changes channels. Can I program to a different frequency?

this is due to a " remote war" you will need to cahnge your tv remote adress to a differnt number: Dual-Tuner receivers can have the same remote address for both, but ONLY if one remote is IR and the other is UHF.
Note: If you start this procedure and at any time do not press a button within 20 seconds, the remote will end the procedure automatically. Simply start over again. Other UHF and UHF Pro receivers should be powered off before beginning.
  1. Verify the remote is a DISH Network remote. Look for the DISH Network logo on the bottom of the remote and Mode buttons or lights at the top. Why?

We have the codes for all DISH Network remotes and would be happy to help you with your DISH Network manufactured remote. Please contact the manufacturer of your remote for further assistance. Detailed instructions may be included in the owners' manual that came with your equipment. If not, there may be a toll-free technical support number listed.

  2. If using a remote with Indicator Tab (3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 5.2, 5.3, 6.0, 6.2, 6.3) verify the Tab is configured for the correct receiver operation. How to?

Green Indicator Tab with a green 1 Green Indicator Tab with a black 1 Green Indicator Tab with a green 1 UHF Blue Indicator Tab Black Indicator Tab Silver Indicator Tab IR UHF Pro Only UHF Pro Only UHF Pro Only UHF & IR UHF Pro Only 522, 625, 942
    TV1 942 only
    TV 522, 625 only
    TV1 522, 625, 942
    TV2 501, 508, 510, 721 381, 811, 921
      Reconfigure Remote
      1. Remove battery cover.
      2. Confirm remote is configurable. Note: if remote label says "IR", it can NOT be reconfigured.
      3. Place thumb nail between the colored piece, above the number, and the body of the remote. Pull down towards the bottom of the remote.
      4. Turn colored piece over to desired format and reinsert until a "snap" is heard.
      5. Replace battery cover.

  3. With the receiver on, press the Info or System Info button on the front panel,
if not present remove the Smart Card and wait 5-10 sec,
if no Smart Card power the receiver off from the front panel and press the up or down arrow button.
System info will appear on screen. (This procedure is not applicable for the DISHPlayer or the DishDVR 721)
  4. Press and hold the SAT button (about six seconds) until all mode button backlights come on, then release.
  5. Use the number buttons to enter a number from 1 to 15. The light will blink off after each digit is entered and then return to a steady light.
  6. Press the POUND (#) button. If the code entered is valid for the remote, the SAT mode light flashes three times.
  7. Press the Record button. The number in the Remote Address field should match the one you input.
  8. To verify the code, press and hold the SAT mode button until the mode lights come on. Then press the POUND (#) button twice. The light will flash the address.
  9. Reinsert Smart Card
