There Are Gnats Everywhere..My Kitchen Is Clean! But I BeLieve They Come From My Porch..When I Open My Porch Ttheres Millions..My Dryer Is Out There And My Washer Is In The Kitchen..You Literally See Them...

If you have central air, they could be coming from your vents. My daughter had the same problem with gnats at her school dorm. They were coming out of the AC vents.

"nf" error code on Maytag front load stackable

I think your hunch is probably correct. "nf" is "no fill" or "slow fill" so if the machine is in a cold enough location it likely has frozen supply lines or inlet water valve. About all you can do is slowly warm the area around it with a space heater or wait until Spring. I wouldn't try to warm it in a day though. Frozen pipes that are thawed too quickly can break, leaving you with a real mess on your hands, possibly even structural damage to the property. All you need to do is get the temps above freezing, it doesn't need to be balmy. If you use an electric heater make sure it is well away from combustibles and the machine if possible. When water lines break they tend to spray where they want so keep that under consideration when placing the heater and make sure it's off the floor. If i started warming the room today i wouldn't even try to use the machine for a week. And i'd babysit it as much as humanly possible. Good luck.

I had a cracked cold water inlet valve due to frozen pipes but Ive relaced and machine stll isnt working. I suspect water has squirted from the cracked valve into the inside of the machine and hit...

Careful inspection should show where or if there has been water in the machine. Don;t go buying expensive spares without doing some basic tests. What isn't working? Does it power up or is it completely dead? If the valve had leaked after freezing the inside of the machine would have been flooded after it thawed and so would your kitchen (or wherever the machine is). Have you checked mains supply in the machine? Give more details and i will try to help.

My washing is outside in a shed and water supply has been frozen, I have now got water supply sorted but machine is leaking water at the bottom back corner even though its not even on. Any ideas?

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

Enter your model number (###.######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Also see the following Whirlpool Service manuals for top load, direct drive washers.$FILE/L-55.pdf

It sounds as if the discharge tube from the pump to the back of the washer has split or come loose probably from freezing and thawing.

See the following for how to remove the cabinet to check the tube and pump.

Drain pipe overflows. very cold outside

This, unfortunately, sounds like the drain is frozen. Or just has a clog. You might try putting some ice melter (like you put on your sidewalks) and just wait for a day or so. Other than that, heat is the only thing else to melt the ice. If it is clogged, try running a snake through the drain pipe. (not the washer). If this helps, please rate my answer. Thank you.

Washer location

Not advisable. Garage area would need to stay above freezing temp., and dryer performance will be poor at best if intake air is below 50 F. If you are not doing a lot of laundry, you can use a combo unit. (washer and dryer in one unit. LG makes one, others must also) They are slow, as the dryer is only 120 volt, and dryer does not work well with over a half load, but they also do not require an outside vent, and only require room for one unit, instead of a seperate washer and dryer.

Kenmore Super Capacity Washer Not Working

It appears your timer/main controller/CCU has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to or and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.
