Monitor not working/Fixable?

I want to extend the life of my HP vs19. Presently the on/off switch flashes briefly when plug in. Could I repair this myself or any idea where I could get it fixed economically? I would like to try to fix it myself. Are schematic diagrams available?

Describe your vs19 (Silver) 19"

the monitor is bad.? does it work with a flashlight pointed at the screen? yes, then the CCFL tubes inside are bad,
or the main board, HV inverter section bad.

so replace it.
HP does not make books on monitor repair or disassembly .
remove the base and base bracket first.
then all screws you see, it then splits. all ascess covers off too first, that can hide screws.
it is not the diodes
#1 all time fail is CCLF here. never seen on this old not dead.
all are now, 20,000 hours and BAM dead.
that is why LED was invented top stop the BAM.

HP vs19 monitor does not turn on.

You may have to inspect the inside of the monitor. You may have to dry it out from the inside and look for burned component which may be caused by a short due to the moisture.

My HP vs 19 desktop monitor is on, but the screen is blank. It flashes on for less than a second when I turn the monitor off, and then back on -- but then goes blank. What is the solution?

If you are handy at fixing things.

Here is a link of how to fix your monitor. I had the same problem, and found this link, followed the instructions and it cost me $5.13
to fix my HP vs19 LCD monitor, and its still working great.

Don't drag out your soldering gun these are too high wattage and will melt the board. Use a 40 to 25 watt soldering iron.

HP 19" Monitor Blinking

The monitor is probably on protection.

To start unplug monitor from power and from computer and test computer with different monitor to find out if it is monitor or computer fault.

If it is computer fault and no video signal , then test:

  • Video cable.
  • Video adapter on PC (sometimes integrated on motherboard)
  • Motherboard.

If it is monitor fault , then the monitor is on protection.

When on protection you keep having a flashing led on front of the monitor , and monitor turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the Monitor goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or a broken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the monitor will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occurr are a blown capacitor on power board, faulty inverter board, faulty input board, or a fault on LCD Digital Controller board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing statebecause of the video cable.

Try moving the video cable, and if the cable is not built in, then also try a replacement cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

Dell LCD E207WFP (Switches on Briefly then goes Off)

two case trouble reason and need to do:
1) back light driver (inverter) works not stable and DC power protect. it near some component damage, should repair inverter by egineer.
2) back light (lamp) over life cycle so protect by the inverter, should change new lamp (regular parts)
3) DC power supply not stable or component over life( wave filter capacitor), should be replaced

No Power

There is a whole lot the typical user can check but here is the list: -Disconnect the power plug from the power strip and plug directly into a tested wall socket. Sometimes the power strip sockets go bad. -Try another working power cord. -When you plug in the power cord do any of the monitor LEDs com on?
