I opened up acer icon for projector i think by mistake, when i closed icon on taskbar, external monitor no longer responds, my laptop screen was broken hence the external monitor, but now when i power off/on i cant get display on external monitor, i've tried toggle switch fn + f5/f6 ? I've tried connecting to tv which used to work as monitor also, but not now, is there a simple keyboard function to revert as it is only since i opened that acer icon on desktop ??

Sounds like an inverter problem. If the power supply is internal replace the capacitors coming out of the voltage regulators. These are usually 1000mf and/or 470mf. If that doesn't do the trick look up the numbers on the 8-pin chips that drive the secondary transformers on the inverter to see if they are getting the right voltages.
Good Luck!

Connecting an External Monitor or Data Projector
You can switch to anexternal monitor or data projector by two methods.1. Connect the externalmonitor to the laptop's video port, power up the external monitor first and thelaptop. The video information will automatically switch to the externalmonitor.2. If you power up thelaptop first then you can switch the video output to the external monitor bypressing the Fn key and one of the Function keys, depending upon your make andmodel laptop. You can also toggle between the external monitor or both LCDscreen plus the external monitor or back to LCD screen only by pressing the Fnkey plus one of the function key. Sure you can with a standard VGA video cable.

Hope it helps!

Acer 5515 on external monitor

Get an VGA cable and connect your external monitor to your laptop via a VGA port that is usually used for digital projectors. In this VGA port, you can initiate dual monitors.

Then look at your keyboard and look an icon in your function keys (F1 to F12) that looks like a pair of an LCD and a TV like this {LCD icon/ TV icon}. In most laptop keyboards, this is located in F4.

When found, and with the external monitor hooked to the laptop via VGA port using a VGA cable, press and hold down the FN key and press the function key where the icons described above is located. Example, FN + F4 to toggle a single and a dual monitor.

Give it a try.

I need to show Powerpoint slides from my Acer Aspire One netbook. When I connect to the projector it does not work. Why?

Have you pressed Fn+F5? It commands using external monitor/ projector. Try this:
1. Connect to projector with projector in ON position
2. Restart your PC
If it won't work:
1. Restart your PC, press F8 frequently, choose "enable vga mode"
