Recovery Mode: download the update software and install then lock your sansa hold in the rec key on the left at the same time push the menu/power button this will take you to recovery mode then connect to the computer Start the update software if it doesn't start automaticconnect sansa and start it up manually... follow instructions on the updater and the sansa. here is a link to a kid showing you how to goto recovery mode.
Update software from this link..
and install the software before you recover
Deleteing Playlist: Open my computer double click my music Here you should find the folder my play list double click and delete file .wpl or .m3u these are the playlists....You can also go to search type .wpl enter when located delete remember where file was located...Windows Media Player will find them also and you can delete from there.. When i turn it on it is frozen on Refresh Database

Hi I had the same trouble, you have to put the lock on up the top and then push both the record and the start button at the same time, it put mine into recovery mode, I then connected it to the computer and it put the update in. You do need to put the Sansa Updater onto your computer first. I turns itself off when it is done and you have to unlock it and turn it back on, it will say that it is refreshing the data base, (this time it did), all of your songs will be gone, but that is easily fixed by resyncing to your favorite music.
I hope that you are able to fix it, as I know that I have missed mine!
Good Luck

Refresh database error

Used the Firmware Updater to get the latest firmware and this updated my Sansa E260 player which was in Recovery mode. The player then completed the refresh database process. No data was lost. The player is now functiining correctly.]

E270r Refresh Database error w/ version details error

Try putting the player into "msc" usb mode. "mtp" usually does that, but i've never hear of it being on the comp.

Good luck
