Question about Fisher and Paykel Fisher & Paykel Washer

Top loader beeps every second - lights 3,5,7 & 8 all lit

My F&P smart-drive 9 died today. It won't reset (60 second power down) and just comes back to where ever it was in the failure and won't advance. Trying to start another wash cycle sees the washer add water in 1-2 second bursts and then time out after about 15 seconds. Manual makes no mention of this particular error.

same here..it trys to work but stops and beeps continuously. I cycled the switch under the circuit boards (no change) then move the switch under the lid... and it all came good. Thanks guys!

My washers Out-Of-Balance micro-switch was rusted/broken and stuck in the "on" position, indicating the washer was always out of balance and hence the error.

    Steps to fix the problem:
    0. Disconnect washer from power socket
    1. Remove two screws from back of control touch panel
    2. Remove control touch panel
    3. Remove screw from front-middle of lower circuit board
    4. Remove lower circuit board to reveal Out-Of-Balance micro-switch at back-right under lower circuit board
    5. Push washer bowl far in the direction of the Out-Of-Balance micro-switch
    6. Replace micro-switch if it doesn't click each time the washer bowl moves in that direction

yes the same problem, just that'' out of balance'' micro-switch,needed replacement.not clicking back out , staying in the ON position.

Check the reed switch under the lid,and the oobalance switch under the lower board they may be rusty so the machine thinks the lid is open causing this fault.hope this helps.

That sounds more like a rotor position sensor fault on the motor.

Thanks to whom ever you are who posted the step by step guide to fixing my problem, which was also OOB Switch. I found that a wee little button was the core of my problem. Thanks lots, no need for a new washing machine for moment. :)

Just curious as to what would have been the cost to have someone out to look at it. Does anyone know or wish to share? :)

Hey, thanks for that, my washing machine is fixed. I took the  micro-switch out as you said and flicked the small switch on the side of the unit a dozen or so times until it was working properly again. It was stiff to start with but it did free up. I am hoping it will stay ok and i wont need to buy a new one.Cheers from NZ.

Had the same problem with a 10yr old F&P excellence 7.5kg. Inspected the switch and all was ok - the bowl seemed out of alignment though and we found that re-levelling the machine fixed the problem.

Smart error, failure or S.M.A.R.T. has been tripped. They all mean the same thing. Your PC's HDD is dying, how fast? Nobody knows. So what it really comes down to is that you have a limited amount of time to access your HDD in more ways than your panicked mind can come up with right now. So until you can figure out a plan, the most important thing you can do is turn off your PC. Remember running your HDD is using up valuable time. So remove the HDD, Go get a reliable replacement (your HDD is dying) and install your favourite O/S. At this point I would suggest you purchase an external HDD enclosure so can hook up the old HDD and transfer back the important files.

U need to check the crankshaft position sensor. The fuel pump will only have power for 2 seconds I till it sees a crank signal. It' controls the asd relay which turns on your spark and fuel

My fisher and paykel smart drive 9 5.5kg won't power up

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors due to feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET/MOTOR/DRAIN pump/ valve to open up and allow each function to be driven starting from the flow of water into the drum as also the drain valve to open to exit the water at the point of the program cycle. If this does not happen then the voltage at the valve/motor/pump must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

If there is no power it can be due to a failure of the power supply.

II might need the actual model number. However, you can go to page 9 on this manual and check if the flashing options can fix the problem. I am assuming you have already tried to turn the power off and back on.

The ohter thing to try is the reset sequence. Within 6-7 secs press High Temp/ Heat Dry/ High Temp/ Heat Dry/ High Temp/ Heat Dry. All lights should light up, press Start button to exit.
