I saw the blinking power light issue yesterday with the cartridge error for the black HP 21.

The error was due to the HP21 being empty

I refilled the cartridge and press the power button and it cleared the error and now it prints fine on my computer..

Cartridges have small electrical contacts. It sounds as though either the cartridge is faulty or it may have got stuck in the wrong place.

Firstly turn off the printer.

If you are using it with a computer via a usb connector, disconnect the lead from the printer.

Disconnect the power lead from the printer.

Lift the lid to gain access to the cartridges.

Ensure they move freely along the track from right to left.

Remove the cartridges and re-insert them one at a time.

Close the lid, reconnect the power lead and USB connector.

Switch the printer back on.

If you are using it with a PC, your computer should automatically detect it after a few seconds. If it doesn't then restart your PC.

If this does not clear the problem, try new cartridges. If it still does not work, the printer may have a control fault.

Hope it works, good luck!

Resolving a blinking light When an error occurs, the power light will blink continuously and an error message will appear on the computer screen. Read the onscreen error message explaining the problem and follow its solution. I have a ML-2510, I turned it on and both the red light and green light flash constantly. Will not feed or print.

The green light blinking means that it is accepting or printing data.
But, the red light is for the error messages. This blinking means there is a toner problem. 1. remove toner cartridge from printer and gently shake to redistribute any that is left, or
2. You simply have to replace the toner cartridge with a new one - this one has been exhausted.

5. If the error still displays, then remove the color print cartridge.
6. Close the cover.
7. If there is no error indicated by flashing lights, the color cartridge has short-circuited.
8. However, if you continue to get an error, repeat steps 1-3, and then go to step 9.
9. Remove the black print cartridge and reinsert the color cartridge.
10. If there is no error indicated by flashing lights, the black cartridge has short-circuited.

Printer will not print. power light and feed light blink on & off

the power and feed lights blinking is the indicator for a (printer cartridge has stalled) problem sounds like there is a cartrage mis-installed or a peice has broken off and is tripping the sensor. In the first part of you problem you said you resolved a carteage problem that might lend a clue depending on what you actually did to resolve that issue could be the cover that you have to peel off when you install a cartridge and a peice got torn off good luck

HP PSC 1400 all in one:

Some things to try...

Open the printer as though you were going to remove the cartridges.

Pull the paper that is in the tray out of the tray. Ensure you do not have too much paper for your particular tray to handle.

Look inside the printer to ensure there is no obvious paper jam. Close the printer. Give it a second or two to think....

Put the paper back into the paper tray. May just need a smaller pile of paper. If there is too much paper in your tray it will not go through the rollers properly.

If lights are still blinking after that however read any messages follow instructions if poss. Sometimes you just need to hit the enter button at this point to clear. Cartridges may align any point (hopefully).

If none of this works. Look for a "Toolbox" or something in your printer/scanner software on your computer that would enable you to send the align printer cartridges command from the software. That may align them as well.

I would be interested to know if this works. Good luck!

The following error message appears on the color graphics display after you insert a cartridge: Remove and Check Print Cartridges . The printer will not print. The message does not specify which cartridge has caused the error. Solution This error message indicates that the printer cannot determine which cartridge is causing the error. 2. Reinsert the color cartridge into the carriage and close the blue latch.
      3. Close the printer and wait 10 to 15 seconds.

    OR
    • If the LCD display reads Remove and Check Print Cartridges , follow the steps below:
      1. Reinsert the color cartridge.

      3. Clean the black or photo cartridge contacts.
      4. Reinsert the black or photo cartridge.
      5. Close the printer and wait 10 to 15 seconds.

    Priner problems

Issue After you install a print cartridge, or during normal operation, the print cartridge light and one or both of the Start Copy lights begin to blink. Solution NOTE: The procedures below refer to a 'problem' cartridge. The 'problem' cartridgeis identified either by a computer message or by the Start Copy lights. If a computer message indicates a specific cartridge, that is the problem cartridge. If there is no computer message, look at the Start Copy lights - if the Black Start Copy light is blinking, the cartridge on the right is the problem cartridge. If the Color Start Copy light is blinking, the cartridge on the left is the problem cartridge. If both Start Copy lights are blinking and there is no computer message, perform the procedures below on both cartridges. Work through the sections below in order. When the print cartridge light stops blinking, you have solved the problem. Step One: Remove, inspect, and reseat the problem cartridge The print cartridge may not have full electrical contact with the printer. Removing and reinstalling the cartridge may help. NOTE: HP cannot guarantee the quality of remanufactured or refilled cartridges. Make sure the printer is on. Press the Power button if it is not lit. Open the printer cover, then wait until the print cartridge carriage is idle and silent. Press down lightly on the end of the problem cartridge to release it. Slide the cartridge out and inspect it: CAUTION: Do not touch the copper electrical contacts or the ink nozzles. Check the electrical contacts for debris. Make sure all the clear nozzle protective tape has been removed. CAUTION: Do not attempt to remove the copper electrical strip! Look at the number on the print cartridge label and make sure it is compatible with your printer. Compatible print cartridges are listed in the Printer Reference Guide supplied with your printer. If the cartridge is compatible, reinstall it in the printer: Cartridges marked with a triangle go into the left carriage slot. Cartridges marked with a square or pentagon go into the right carriage slot. Step Two: Clean the problem cartridge contacts If the steps have not solved the problem, clean the electrical contacts on the print cartridge and in the carriage in the printer. Gather the following items to clean the cartridge and print carriage: Clean distilled water. Use bottled or filtered water if distilled water is not available. Tap-water can contain contaminants that damage the cartridge. Clean cotton swabs or any soft, lint-free material that will not stick to the cartridges (coffee filters work well) Sheets of paper or a paper towel to rest the cartridges on during cleaning Open the printer cover and wait until the print carriage stops moving. Remove the cartridge and place it on a piece of paper with the nozzle plate facing up. NOTE: Clean the contacts quickly so that the cartridge is not outside of the printer for more than 30 minutes. If the cartridge is outside of the printer for too long, the ink can dry and clog the nozzles. Unplug the printer. Dip a swab in the clean water, and then squeeze it to remove most of the moisture. The swab should be only slightly damp. Clean the print-cartridge contacts. Do not touch the nozzles. Clean the contacts in the print carriage, inside the printer. Either let the cartridge sit for ten minutes to allow the cleaned area to dry, or use a new swab to dry it. Reinstall the cartridge, plug the printer back in, and close the printer cover. Try to print again. If the issue still appears, proceed to the next step. Step Three: Repeat reseating and cleaning steps If the problem is not solved, repeat the reseating and cleaning procedures above. Step Four: Contact HP If the problem has not been solved by the steps above, either the printer or the problem cartridge is defective
