Are you sure that your old device isn't a dial-up modem rather than an ADSL modem? The wires should be a small square one from phone line to device and either an Ethernet (larger squareish end) or a USB from the device to the PC. Both cables should have been in the pack that you bought.

a POTs (plain old telephone) line should never be connected to a router. that adsl filter does not make a phone line share a data line.
ADSL is a type of internet service supplied over a phone line. think of it as raw (unusable) when its on the phone line. then you use your dsl filter/splitter to feed the raw internet into a special dsl modem and the other port can be used by a standard phone.

you will know a dsl modem when you see it because its uplink or internet port will only be big enough to fit a phone cord into, not an internet cord. these dsl modems then feed usable internet to your routers and all devices on your network. but, like i said before, at this point it is too late for your phone and internet to share the same wire.

1,2,3+6 are used in a typical network

if your network is typical you can "get fancy" and use 4,5,7+8 for telephone or even put 2 data lines on the same wire (not recommended for long distances). however, this may involve cutting some wires and splicing them together or something.

How to connect the trend net tew-432 brp router to MT800 wired modem

MT-800 is is just an ADSL modem. The cable from the modem connects to the WAN port on the router. A second cable goes from one of the LAN ports to the computer(s).
Here is the secret - Press the reset on the router for ten seconds (one thousand, two thousand...) AFTER this, unplug the power from the modem for ten seconds and then plug the power back in. Do it in this order.
The first step clears the router and finds the computer.
The second step resets the modem and tells it to find the router.
Enjoy your Internet!

I have an ADSL D-Link modem (DSL-300G)that works fine. I hooked a D Link wired router, EBR-2310 and can't get to the internet. It use to work until one day recently the kid moved wires arround because no...

First: Connect your computer directly to the ADSL modem. It has an Ethernet port.
If you can't get to the Internet while your computer is connected directly to the modem, then ytour router never will either. Call ISP if you can't connect to the Internet when directly conencted to the modem.
Next: Check your router wires again, The modem must be connected to the "special" port on the router. Look at the router. There is one port separated from the rest. Connect the modem to that port. Conenct to the Internet.
Still no Internet?
Reset your router by pushing a stylus (straightened-out paperclip) into the reset "hole" on the router (with router powered ON).
Push & hold for 30 seconds or until the lights do their reset dance. Connect to the INternet.

Siemens gigaset se587 wlan dsl

HI

A flashing ADSL light on the router means its not getting constant broadband signals. Make sure it is connected to the adsl filter without any extensions and the filter should be directly connect to the main phone socket and not to an extension socket. Also check if the phone socket has 1 or more than 1 ports on it. If it has two port its most likely a SSFP socket which does not require a filter as it is inbuit. If all the connections are fine try changing da filter.
