HP DV1000 screen too dim

The 4 most common problems with dim lcd's on a laptop are boken screens, bad power inverter, bad florescent bulbs or a broken cable.

You can test the power inverter with a meter.

There should be 2 bulbs. If your screen is dim and your inverter is good and you can still make out what is on the screen, you probably have a bad bulb. If you can't determine which bulb is bad you'll have to replace both.

In my opinion, the easiest way to handle this is to replace the whole screen. Yes, it's more exspensive, but consider that it is most likely to fix your problem. A replacement screen comes with the power inverter, both bulbs, and the cable; already assembled and ready to install.

I used The FN and F5 key and it worked

Go to the point where you have a stable picture even if it is huge. Right click on an empty space on the desktop and scroll down to properties. Click on settings and increase the resolution a little at a time hitting apply and checking the display as you go. Keep hitting ok to the display settings if you like them. Find the resolution and display size that suites you.

Thin Red Line on Left Side of HP Pavilion DV2000 Lap Top Screen

Majority of time it's the lcd that has a problem which creates the red line, otherwise it's the GPU (video processor).

Try hooking up your computer to an external monitor. If you see the line on the external chances are it's the lcd.

This method of testing isn't fool proof but either way the problem is hardware related.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

HP Pavillion da1000 freezes up when I move away from it.

Couple of things. First go into the Control Panel>Power Management and see if it is set to go into sleep mode with a very short time period, like 1 or 2 minutes.
Second, try only using your laptop on a firm flat surface like a table. If you put it on your lap the air is not able to circulate like it should and will cause it to overheat which produces all kinds of wierd things.

I bought two games for my new computor. one will load but will not come up to play. the other will not load at all. i did every thing it said to do. went to computor clicked on set up and the game will not...

The game could be NOT for your system.
If your system is for examble: Windows_XP 533 mhz 35 MB RAM
The GAME: Win_xp 1.2 Ghz 500 MB RAM or a different o/s [operating system] lets say Playstation, or XBOX ??
Look on the side of the box to see what the games call for>

Lap top hp notebook series

One of 3 things have gone bad, either the hard drive and/or motherboard and/or the drive ribbon cable. First try removing the hard drive and reinstall the drive and try booting the laptop, if it still does the same thing, then it is time to send to the repair center. BPCS
