With out knowing the make and model of dryer, it is not possible to tell you exactly how the belt will fit, as there are many configerations as to which way the belt could go round various pulleys.
The only jhing in common to them all, is that the belt obviously goes round the drum.
Really need more info
Hope this helps

Replace belts

I went to the local library, studied a motor manual from their reference desk for about an hour and went home. With my next door neighbor's help, I busted some knuckles and installed the new belts in about an hour.

That was Saturday, 3 hrs. after I contacted your site.

yes easy, look for your tension wheel, its will take a 3/8 rachet with out a socket it will release the tension so you can put your belt on.There is a picture on the top of the rator case how to put it on right

Diagram with replacement belt doesn't seem to match old manual

I haven't worked on a belt drive but here is the Sears parts site for your washer with diagrams of the console, drive system etc. You may get a better idea of how to replace the belt from these.

Here also is the Whirlpool / Amana installation and maintenance document for Amana belt drive washers. It may look similar to yours.

The other thing I'd check is Whirlpools list of documentation for their laundry products. Check some of the washers that they make for one that looks like yours and you should get a better idea.
