Wired Router problem

I have a wired router from Wal-Mart (probably first problem) :) and I'm trying to have my Playstation 3 and my PC online at the same time, but to get one of them working I have to push the "RESET" button on my cable modem and THEN power the PC or PS3 on. My problem is the ROUTER dosen't do its job, how can I avoid having to reset my modem everytime I want to get online?

Are you working with a router or a hub...there's a big difference in how they work. The heading above your post says LinkSys NH1005 Networking hub, but your post refers to a Router.(?) Can you provide the exact brand and model number from the device?

A router can support several devices and allow them to share a single IP address on the Internet. Router setup is usually automatic, but there are several settings that can be adjusted manually if it doesn't work right. If this is a hub, the ability to assign addresses to more than one device at a time will have to be set up by your ISP on the cable modem.

Your description of the problem sounds like you may be working with a hub, and the cable modem isn't supporting connection of more than one device at a time to the Internet. If that is the case, you will need to contact your cable provider to see if they can support more than one network device using a hub. If not, you will need to upgrade to a router.

Your RCA DCM425 modem is just that, a modem. you need to buy and plug a wireless router into it. That will broadcast your internet connection for your playstation to find.

A need help

you can set your playstation 3 online by two ways, 1- by a wired connection, and 2- Wireless,

1-Wired Connection: Plug an ethernet cable from your highspeed modem to the back ethernet input on your ps3 system, and follow on your ps3: Network Connection > Internet Connection Settings > Easy > Wired Connection. and follow steps
2- Wireless Connection: You must have a Router connecting ethernet cable from your intenet modem to the router, and follow on your ps3: Network Connection > Internet Connection Settings > Easy > Wireless Connection and follow steps,

hope this helped you on setting up your ps3 connection :)

Control online usage of PS3

Easiest way is probably by configuring your wired / wireless router.

It's not hard per se, but are you up for the challenge.

Let me know and I'll try to guide you through it.

Cant get wired internet on my ps3

A cable modem & a router are two different things. You can pick up a "Cisco 'EtherFast' cable/DSL" (wired or wireless) router at Wal Mart for $35. But you need both a modem & router to get your PS3 up & running on the web. Once you get on, you'll need to set up a "PlayStation" account. Unlike the Xbox 360 Live network, PlayStation is free of charge. It's a very user-friendly interface, so you shouldn't have any problems there. Cisco will give you live customer service to walk you through hooking up your router. Please let me know you make out. If I can be of further assistance, please let me know. Good luck, bro.

Need Advice On Linking 2 Pcs And A Wireless Lap Top

Pick up a linksys 4 port wireless Router. You will be able to run 4 wired devices and as many wireless devices as you desire. I run 2 desktops, a laptop a 4 in one wireless, print, fax, copy and scanner, along with 2 smart phones that run on wireless or 3g. And use them all sometimes without a hickup. We also play online games, my wife likes to shoot things online. The wired end is good for a desktop also, if you do banking, day trading etc. I work from home and have for over a decade, I have tried other routers, and this one for consumers is best as far as I amd concerned. Your modem pluges into thr router, you type in ,192.168.1.1, "the routers set up page" type in the info from your isp, "only a few items, like the ip and DNS" and select the security from one of the choices like "wep2", select a 10 digit encryption key, of your choosing, and that is about it. Good luck ,and maybe get your "stuff" from the sat company out so you have your settings handy, good luck

Cant get online with playstation 3 with a wired connection

Try turning off upnp. Also make sure it is set to a wired connection. Turn off the router for a few minutes with the PS3 off, and then turn on the router, allow it to set up and then try the PS3 set up.

Can I have a wired and wireless connection from the same router?

Hello..the quick answer is yes, this router allows wired and wireless connections at the same time, and it is easy to connect wirelessly (in theory...).

The PS3 will need to be configured to connect to your router, though. There is a guide to achieving this here:

If the wireless signal on the router has been secured, the settings used will be needed to set up the PS3.

If not, you may wish to secure the wireless connection, which is not too difficult - just a few steps, which I or someone else can help with if you wish.

Hope this helps, but please come back to Fixya if anything is not clear or you need further information.

Ps3 wired connection

Hi There.

If your PS3 is Networked upto Your PC to use the internet connection, You have to allow the PC to share its Internet connection with yout PC, Do this By going into Network settings, Checking the properties of your LAN card in your PC. and clicking on, "share my internet". This should alleviate that problem..

Or.

If your PS3's Wired connection isnt working. but your PC one is, Try moving your PS3 Lan cable into one of the other Free LAN Ports (if available) or Try Switching the PC cable over to the PS3's Port in the Router, and Visa-Versa !
